The representative sun visor for vehicles has a sun visor body which can slide in an axial direction of a support rod together with a guide member with respect to a movable element. The sun visor includes a friction mechanism which imposes a predetermined frictional resistance to the relative movement of the sun visor body with respect to the movable element. The friction mechanism has a sliding member and a biasing member. The sliding member is slidably held in contact with the guide member and imposes a frictional resistance to the guide member, and the biasing member applies a biasing force in a direction that holds the sliding member and the guide member in contact with each other. The guide member and the sliding member have a plurality of sliding contact portions on which the biasing force of the biasing member acts in different directions.

Sun visor for vehicles

It is accordingly an object of the present invention to provide a sunvisor for a vehicle equipped with a photocatalyst with a deodorizing effect. In the present invention, a vehicle sunvisor has a visor body that is mounted to a cabin-ceiling surface via a support shaft. The visor body rotates around the support shaft and switches between a storage position, where it is positioned along the cabin-ceiling surface, and a light shielding position, where it is positioned along a glass surface. In addition, a deodorizing part equipped with a photocatalyst having a deodorizing effect may be provided in the visor body.

A vehicle sun visor includes a visor body, a mirror mounted to the visor body, and a mirror cover slidably movable relative to the visor body along a reflective surface of the mirror between a closed position substantially covering the reflective surface of the mirror and an opened position for uncovering the reflective surface. A lighting device serves to illuminate a driver or a passenger when the mirror is used. A light control device serves to turn the lighting device from off to on as the mirror cover slides from the closed position to the opened position. The light control device also serves to control the intensity of light emitted from the lighting device in response to the position of the mirror cover.

A surface covering material for use with a vehicle sun visor includes a non-woven fabric layer and a synthetic resin layer overlaid onto a back surface of the non-woven fabric layer. The density of the non-woven fabric layer is between 120 g/m and 250 g/m. The non-woven fabric layer preferably includes a binder resin. The thickness of the synthetic resin layer is between 30 &#x3bc;m and 50 &#x3bc;m. A vehicle sun visor may be covered with such a surface covering material.

A vehicle sun visor has a bearing disposed at an upper corner portion of a visor body. A sight-through portion is defined in a lower region of the visor body in order to enable observation through the sight-through portion. The sight-through portion extends at least between an eye point on the visor body and a central point of the lower region of the visor body. A mirror assembly is movable between a usable position and a storage position without interacting with the sun visor bearing. The usable position is disposed on or proximate to the eye point. The storage position is disposed in the upper region of the visor body. The mirror assembly in the usable position and the storage position does not cover the central point of the lower region.
