Provided is an autonomous travel system capable of effectively suppressing generation of ruts. It is a further object to provide an autonomous travel system including unmanned vehicles that travel on a transportation path constituted of opposite lanes, which is capable of suppressing generation of ruts while preventing proximity to an on-corning vehicle. An in-vehicle control deviceincludes: an offset amount determination unitadapted to, based on common offset information received via a wireless communication device, determine an offset amount of a travel pathbased on map informationand generate a target track; and an autonomous travel control unitadapted to output a travel instruction to control traveling of a body so as to track the target trackto which the offset amount has been added based on the target trackand an own-vehicle position.

An autonomous driving vehicle includes map information storage means, sensor state evaluation means, movement obstacle evaluation means, and speed limit value setting means. When a travel start detector detects a travel of the vehicle, a reference parameter value setting process section of a microcomputer sets a geometric feature value of an image pattern of the leading vehicle extracted at appropriate timing as a reference parameter value. Thereafter, each time a geometric feature value of the image pattern of the leading vehicle is extracted, a target driving force calculation process section calculates a target driving force Ttar for reducing any difference between the geometric feature value and the value set as the reference parameter value. Described herein is a run environment recognizing apparatus. The run environment recognizing apparatus comprises an imaging device for sensing the direction of traveling of a host vehicle as imaging vision, a radar for detecting the direction of traveling of the host vehicle as a detection range, an image processing device for recognizing traveling lanes, leading vehicles and stationary objects located ahead of the host vehicle, based on the image information sensed by the imaging device and the result of detection by the radar, and a display for displaying the results of recognition by the image processing device. The image processing device includes means for setting vehicle regions indicative of the leading vehicles within the image information, based on the result of detection by the radar. Thus, the influence of the leading vehicles in the process for recognizing the traveling lanes within the image information is eliminated by the vehicle regions.
