A liquid jet recording head for discharging liquid droplets onto a recording medium includes a support, heat-generating resistance layer provided on the support for generating heat energy to discharge the liquid droplets, a pair of electrodes electrically connected to the heat-generating resistance layer, and heat-generating sections each serving as a portion for generating the heat energy, each head generating section comprising the heat-generating resistance layer sandwiched by the pair of electrodes. Plural discharge openings serve to discharge liquid droplets, a liquid chamber houses liquid, and there are plural liquid paths, each liquid path having an associated heat generating section, and communicating with an associated discharge opening and with the liquid chamber to supply liquid to the associated discharge opening from the liquid chamber. An layer on the support protects the heat-generating resistance layer and pair of electrodes, and the upper layer has an organic resin layer of organic material, and this organic resin layer is formed only on a whole region upstream of the heat-generating sections on the support in a liquid supply direction.

Liquid jet recording head

Disclosed is a thin-film resistor element for an ink jet head. In the thin-film resister element, a protective film is used having a multi-layered structure, the proportion of Ar atoms contained in a lower area of the protective film located in contact with the heating resistor is set between 0.2 wt % and 6.0 wt %, and that in an upper area of the protective film is set between 1.0 wt % and 9.0 wt %.

Ink jet head having a protective layer with a controlled argon content

A liquid jet recording head comprises plural discharge port groups and a corresponding plurality of liquid chambers for containing liquid to be discharged from the discharge ports. Each of the plural discharge ports has an opposing heat generating element, all of the heat generating elements being disposed on a single substrate having supply holes therein to supply liquid to the liquid chambers. The heat generating elements, being opposed to the discharge ports, are also disposed in groups, each having a common electrode and individual electrodes for the multiple heat generating elements in the group. The supply holes are located in the same area of the substrate as the individual electrodes, thus making the head compact.

Liquid jet recording head with multiple liquid chambers

In an ink jet recording apparatus in which a filter is placed in an ink supply route, when an ink flow is formed in the ink supply route by ink ejection during recording operations and so on, a valve does not contact firmly to the filter, but when an ejection recovery operation is performed and an ink flow velocity increases, the valve contacts firmly to the filter and covers up a part of the filter. With this structure and operation, the effective cross-section area of the filter decreases and hence, a given quantity of pressure difference is produced between the upstream side and the downstream side of the filter. As a result, bubbles unable to pass through the filter at recording operations can pass through the filter when ejection recovery operations are performed.

Ink jet recording apparatus

A liquid jet recording head comprises a substrate comprising a support, a resistive heater layer, electrodes electrically connected with the resistive heater layer, a portion of the resistive heater layer located between the electrodes being an electrothermal transducer, and an upper layer comprising a first protective layer comprising an inorganic insulating material, a second protective layer comprising an inorganic material, and a third protective layer comprising an organic material, wherein and the second protective layer and the third protective layer overlap each other in the vicinity of a portion where heat is generated by the electrothermal transducer and the overlapping width of the second protective layer and the third protective layer ranges from 10 .mu.m to 500 .mu.m. In another embodiment, the second protective layer extends along plural liquid flow paths for substantially less than the length thereof in a continuous strip that covers adjacent transducers.

An ink jet recording head comprises a substrate including a heat-generating resistance layer disposed on a support to provide a heat-generating section with two ends, a pair of electrodes on the support being connected electrically to the ends of the heat-generating sections. A member, joined to the substrate, has a recessed portion for forming a liquid pathway connected to an orifice for ejecting liquid. The member and substrate are joined so that the ends of the heat-generating section correspond to the liquid pathway. An organic material protective layer on the electrodes proximate to the ends of the heat-generating section is omitted from the heat-generating section and in the vicinity of an edge of the support where the liquid pathway is connected to the orifice. This configuration prevents the organic material protective layer from being subjected to the high temperatures attained by the heat-generating section and to the mechanical stresses encountered when the edge of the head is machined.

A serial type liquid jet recording apparatus includes a recording head having an array of plural liquid ejecting devices arranged in a column direction to eject droplets of recording liquid on a recording material; an end portion driving circuit for driving one or more end liquid ejecting devices of the plural ejecting devices; a central portion driving circuit for driving the remaining liquid jet ejecting devices; and an adjusting device for adjusting a quantity of the droplet only from the end ejecting devices by changing a voltage level or a pulse width of a driving voltage of the end portion driving circuit independently of the central portion driving circuit.

A liquid jet recording head is provided with a liquid discharging portion having an orifice provided to discharge liquid and form flying liquid droplets and a liquid flow path communicating with the orifice and having as a part of the construction thereof a heat-acting portion in which heat energy for forming the liquid droplets acts on the liquid. The heat acting portion includes electro-thermal converting element comprising a heat-generating resistive layer provided on a base plate and at least a pair of opposed electrodes between which a heat-generating portion is formed by the resistive layer, wherein the width of the electrodes in at least the portion thereof which is in contact with the heat-generating portion is greater than the width of the heat-generating resistive layer corresponding thereto.

A liquid jet recording apparatus comprising: liquid chambers communicating with a plurality of discharge orifices for discharging a recording liquid to form flying liquid droplets for accommodating the recording liquid; and heat generating elements for generating energy used for forming the flying liquid droplets, wherein a plurality of element groups, each of which includes a plurality of said heat generating elements on the same substrate are respectively and independently provided, and each liquid chamber is independently provided in each of the element groups.
