A shielding connector has a female and male housings (), each of which has an inner housing () that accommodates terminal fittings (). Metal shells () are mounted on the peripheries of the inner housings () and electromagnetically shield the female and male terminal fittings () when the housings () are connected. The metal shells () are configured to achieve secure mounting, effective shielding and a small cross section. A detector () is provided to ensure complete connection and is configured to prevent inadvertent separation of the housings ().

Shielding connector

A waterproof resilient plug ( ) has a trunk portion ( ) to be brought into close contact with the inner circumferential surface of a terminal insertion hole (C) and a fixing portion ( ) extending from the leading end of the trunk ( ) and to be pressed against the outer circumferential surface of a wire (W) by insulation barrels ( ). The plug ( ) is formed along its longitudinal axis with a wire insertion hole ( ) that can be brought into close resilient contact with the outer surface of the (W). An inner diameter of the wire insertion hole ( ) aligned with the fixing portion ( ) is smaller than the one at the side of trunk ( ), whereby the fixing portion ( ) can be held strongly in close contact with the outer surface of the wire (W).

Waterproof resilient plug to provide sealing between a wire and a housing

The invention improves the assembly operation of a connector provided with a detecting member. A female housing is provided with a locking arm capable of engaging with a locking protrusion of a male housing A detecting member capable of moving in an anterior-posterior direction is attached to an upper face of this locking arm The detecting member has an operating member joined to a posterior end of a main body by a hinge A finger engages from the posterior with the operating member to push in the detecting member this detecting member being pushed in its direction of fitting in an inclined downwards direction. When the detecting member is in a waiting position, the operating member thereof is located above a posterior portion of the upper face of the locking arm . This posterior portion of the upper face of the locking arm has a guiding inclined face formed thereon, this guiding inclined face being inclined downwards in the pushing-in direction. When the detecting member is being moved from the waiting position to a detecting position, the operating member slides along the guiding inclined face this smoothly guiding the movement thereof.

Electrical connector with fitting detecting function

A lock arm ( ) and two preventive walls ( ) are provided on the upper face of the female housing ( ), and a detecting member ( ) is mounted between both preventing walls ( ) from the back.
