A plate inserting apparatus in a rotary printing press inserts a plate in a leading edge plate clamp of a plate cylinder. The plate inserting apparatus includes a plate holder and actuators. The plate holder holds the plate. The actuators move the plate holder in directions to come close to and separate from the plate cylinder. The plate holder forms a moving track comprised of at least a first straight portion and a curved portion. The first straight portion extends in a direction to insert the plate held by the plate holder into the plate fixing unit. The curved portion is connected to a counter plate cylinder-side end of the first straight portion to change a traveling direction of the plate holder.

A plate exchanging apparatus in a rotary printing press, which removes an old plate from a plate fixing unit of a plate cylinder and inserts a new plate includes a plate holder and an actuator. The plate holder holds the new plate. The actuator performs one of moving and swinging operations of the plate holder in directions to come close to and separate from the plate cylinder. The actuator selectively positions the plate holder to a first position where the new plate is held in the plate holder, a second position where the new plate held by the plate holder is retreated from an old plate removal path, and a third position where the new plate is inserted into the plate fixing unit of the plate cylinder.

Plate exchanging apparatus in rotary printing press

A sheet-like object feed unit in a sheet-fed rotary printing press includes a feedboard, paper feed belts, connecting plate, improper paper feeding detector, swing arm shaft pregripper, transfer cylinder, non-motion roller, gripper closing cam, and air cylinder. The feedboard, paper feed belts, and connecting plate convey a sheet-like object. The improper paper feeding detector is disposed on a sheet-like object convey path including the feedboard, paper feed belts, and connecting plate, and detects improper feeding of the sheet-like object. The swing arm shaft pregripper is disposed downstream of the feedboard, paper feed belts, and connecting plate in a sheet-like object convey direction, and has a first holding unit for holding the sheet-like object conveyed by the feedboard, paper feed belts, and connecting plate. The transfer cylinder is disposed downstream of the swing arm shaft pregripper in the sheet-like object convey direction, and has a second holding unit for holding the sheet-like object held by the swing arm shaft pregripper. The non-motion roller, gripper closing cam, and air cylinder disable the second holding unit when the improper paper feeding detector detects improper feeding of the sheet-like object.

Sheet-like object feed unit in sheet-fed rotary printing press

A plate inserting apparatus in a rotary printing press for inserting a plate into a plate fixing unit of a plate cylinder includes a plate holder, a cover, and a first reference pin. The plate holder moves between a first position where the plate holder holds the plate and a second position where the held plate is inserted into the plate fixing unit of the plate cylinder. The cover selectively opens and closes a plate insertion side of the plate cylinder. The first reference pin is fixed to the cover to position the plate before held by the plate holder when the plate holder is located at the first position.

In a sheet-like object convey apparatus for a sheet-fed rotary printing press a cylinder shaft is rotatably supported between a pair of frames and rotatably driven during conveyance of a sheet-like object. Gripper pads and grippers grip an end of a sheet-like object conveyed from an upstream side of a sheet convey direction. A gripper pad bar and gripper shaft are supported by the cylinder shaft, to support the gripper pads and grippers in an axial direction of the cylinder shaft. A rod is rotatably supported parallel to the cylinder shaft and has an eccentric large-diameter portion. A lever, cam follower, and cam rotate the rod through a predetermined angle by rotation of the cylinder shaft. Press members are rotatably fitted on the large-diameter portion of the rod, to be displaced in a radial direction along with rotation of the rod. Press levers and braking members convert displacement of the press members, while in surface contact with them, into a pressure in a direction perpendicular to the gripper pad bar and gripper shaft, to deflect them in the sheet convey direction.
