A ferrule includes a main body including inner and outer walls and a connection end surface at which a tip of an optical fiber is to be disposed. The inner wall has fiber holes. The ferrule includes an adhesive filling part disposed in the main body on an opposite side from the connection end surface with respect to the inner wall, an upper opening that opens from the outer wall to the adhesive filling part, and a lower opening that opens from the outer wall to the adhesive filling part and is disposed on an opposite side from the upper opening. The inner wall has a first surface and a second surface protruding toward the adhesive filling part from the first surface. The upper opening is opened in a location along the first surface. The lower opening is opened in a location along the second surface.

Ferrule and ferrule structure

A boot configured to be attached to a ferrule includes: a fiber insertion hole into which optical fibers are inserted; a lower part on one side with respect to the fiber insertion hole; and an upper part on another side with respect to the fiber insertion hole. The fiber insertion hole is disposed to correspond with fiber holes of the ferrule that are disposed in an array in one direction. The upper part includes a protrusion part that protrudes relative to an end surface of the lower part in a fiber insertion direction. The ferrule includes: an adhesive filling part configured to be filled with an adhesive; and a stepped part that guides the optical fibers into the fiber holes.

A ferrule structure includes a ferrule including a plurality of unit holes, and a plurality of lens units, wherein each lens unit includes a lens part attached to an end part of an optical fiber, and each lens unit is molded from a resin for transmittance an optical signal, and each lens unit is to be inserted in one of the unit holes.

A connector system includes: a first ferrule configured to hold end parts of multi-core fibers; a second ferrule configured to hold end parts of single-core fibers; and an optical connection member. The optical connection member is arranged between the first and the second ferrule, and includes an optical system configured to optically connect respective cores included in the multi-core fibers and the single-core fibers. A guide pin is formed on one of the first and the second ferrule, and a guide hole is formed in another of the first and the second ferrule. A through hole is formed in the optical connection member, and the first ferrule, the optical connection member, and the second ferrule can be aligned by fitting the guide pin in the guide hole through the through hole.

A ferrule includes: a ferrule body including a first body-side guide hole into which a first guide pin is inserted, a second body-side guide hole into which a second guide pin is inserted, and an optical fiber holder that holds an optical fiber; and a lens plate including a first plate-side guide hole into which the first guide pin is inserted, a second plate-side guide hole into which the second guide pin is inserted, a lens part, and an abutment surface that an end face of the optical fiber abuts. The first guide pin fits the first body-side guide hole and the first plate-side guide hole. The second guide pin fits one of the second body-side guide hole or the second plate-side guide hole.

A ferrule includes: a main body configured to hold an end of a first optical fiber and an end of a second optical fiber parallel to the first optical fiber; and a lens plate including a first abutment surface configured to abut against an end face of the first optical fiber, a second abutment surface configured to abut against an end face of the second optical fiber, a first lens configured to face the end face of the first optical fiber, and a second lens configured to face the end face of the second optical fiber. The first abutment surface is inclined with respect to a plane perpendicular to a first optical axis of the first optical fiber. A ferrule structure includes: a ferrule body including a body-side guide hole for insertion of a guide pin, and a holding hole that holds light guide members forming light guides; a lens plate including a plate-side guide hole for insertion of the guide pin, and a lens array that includes lenses aligned to the light guides; and a recessed part in an end part of at least one of the body-side guide hole and the plate-side guide hole on an adhesion surface side.

An optical connector system includes: an optical path-changing device including a fiber-holding part that holds a single-mode optical fiber along a first direction, and a reflection surface that reflects an optical signal; and a relay device on a substrate. The substrate includes a grating coupler for inputting/outputting an optical signal in a second direction that is inclined with respect to a direction perpendicular to a surface of the substrate. The optical path-changing device and the relay device each have an input/output surface to/from which the optical signal is inputted/outputted. A first convex lens is disposed on the input/output surface of the optical path-changing device. A second convex lens is disposed on the input/output surface of the relay device.

An optical-fiber-attached ferrule includes: an optical fiber hole into which an optical fiber is inserted and fixed with a first adhesive; and an adhesive-filling section including an opening surface and an opposed surface opposite the opening surface. The adhesive-filling section is filled with a second adhesive that is softer than the first adhesive with an end surface of the optical fiber positioned closer to the opposed surface than to the opening surface.

A ferrule that holds an end part of an optical fiber includes a fiber hole into which the optical fiber is inserted and an upper wall part and a lower wall part that define a hollow adhesive filling part, where the lower wall part faces the upper wall part. The adhesive filling part is filled with an adhesive applied between the optical fiber inserted in the fiber hole and an inner wall surface of the adhesive filling part. The upper wall part has an upper opening through which the adhesive passes into the adhesive filling part, and the lower wall part has a lower opening that ventilates the adhesive filling part to outside of the ferrule.

A ferrule structure includes: a ferrule body including a guide hole that accepts insertion of a guide pin, and a fiber hole that accepts insertion of an optical fiber and that is disposed in an opening surface of the ferrule body; and a lens plate including a guide hole that accepts insertion of the guide pin, a lens part, and an abutment surface that abuts an endface of the optical fiber. A recess is disposed in at least one of the ferrule body and the lens plate. A matching material filling gap, that is to be filled with a refractive index matching material, is formed with the recess, between the opening surface of the ferrule body and the abutment surface of the lens plate.
