The electric power supply system includes a stationary device and a mobile device. The mobile device includes a rotary electric machine driven by an engine, a vehicular battery which is used to move the vehicle, and an emergency battery. The stationary battery in the stationary device may be charged by either one of the rotary electric machine, the stationary battery or the emergency battery via an inter-battery power line. The amount of charge to the stationary battery is set based on an amount of necessary power WRQ which the stationary device needs, and an amount of available power WVH which the mobile device can supply. The stationary battery can be charged in an efficient manner and with a sufficient amount of electric power.

Chargers are connectable with vehicles. An electric supply controller controls a switching circuit to connect an electric power supply line to one of the chargers. A storage unit of the electric supply controller associates information on a priority to each of the vehicles and stores the associated information therein. A manual operation device of the present disclosure allows a user to intuitively recognize a force pattern by providing a graphical representation of the force pattern on a display unit. The force pattern or a relationship between an operation position an operation unit of the manual operation device and a control value is visually represented as, for example, a two-dimensional line graph. In this manner, the reaction force is suitably adjusted to an operation force of the user to reduce an false operation of the manual operation device, because the user can easily controls the reaction force for achieving an improved operability.

There is a need for improving the accuracy of estimating a gain error for an angular velocity sensor. An error estimation section and a correction section are provided as well as a gyroscope that detects an angular velocity of a vehicle. The error estimation section assumes the gain error of the gyroscope to be a state quantity and finds an estimated value for the gain error using a Kalman filter. Based on the gain error found by the error estimation section, the correction section corrects a gain correction amount used for gain correction of values detected by the gyroscope. The correction section corrects the gain correction amount dedicated to right turn based on the gain error found by the error estimation section when the vehicle is assumed to turn right. The correction section corrects the gain correction amount dedicated to left turn based on the gain error found by the error estimation section when the vehicle is assumed to turn left.

A voice recognition system has a vehicle unit, which is a communication terminal, and a voice recognition server. The voice recognition server recognizes a voice signal received from the vehicle unit. A sound characteristic of a communication channel for providing communication between the vehicle unit and the server requires to be adjusted so that the server properly recognizes the voice signal. A test pattern signal is used for adjusting the sound characteristic. The vehicle unit adjusts the sound characteristic based on the test pattern signal. Therefore, the server does not require a large database for the sound characteristic adjustment because it is performed by the vehicle unit.

A navigation system is constructed to set up navigation function of a GPS terminal by using radio signals of broadcast station before receiving GPS signals from GPS satellites. A GPS monitor server receives on the ground GPS signals transmitted from GPS satellites, a FM multiplex broadcast station transmits, using the radio signals, GPS supplementary information including the Almanac and Ephemeris data in a navigation message of the GPS signals received by the GPS monitor server. A GPS terminal starts, upon reception of the GPS supplementary information, reception of the GPS signals transmitted from the GPS satellites.

In a system for recognizing a continuous speech pattern, based on a speech pattern entered through a microphone, a feature vector .alpha..sub.i is extracted by a feature extraction unit, and a feature vector .beta..sub.j.sup.n is read out from a reference pattern memory. A first recursive operation unit (DPM.sub.1) computes a set of similarity measures S.sub.n (i, j) between the feature vectors. A maximum similarity measure at a time point i is determined and produced by a first decision unit (DSC.sub.1) and is stored in a maximum similarity memory (MAX). Based on a computed result g(v, l) and the output from said maximum similarity measure memory, a second decision unit determines a boundary v.sub.max. A word W.sub.u based on data u=v.sub.max -1 obtained by the boundary v is stored as n.sub.x (x=1, . . . , Y) in an order reversing unit (REV). The order reversing unit finally reverses the order of data and produces an output n.sub.x (x=1, . . . , Y).
