A slide member provided with a base, an impregnated layer, and a resin layer. The base made of metal or ceramic. The impregnated layer is defined on a surface portion of a sliding side of the base by forming a recess on the base. The resin layer impregnates the impregnated layer so as to cover a sliding side surface of the base.

Sliding member and method of manufacturing same

There is provided an oil/air lubrication system capable of surely detecting lubrication oil in oil/air adapted to be fed into a rotary portion of a machine tool. A detection means which is provided to a pipe line in the vicinity of a mixing valve, just downstream of the mixing valve, is adapted to detect a flow of lubrication oil with the use of electromagnetic waves, and accordingly, a flow of air/oil can be accurately detected, irrespective of vibration of the machine tool, influence by the gravity, variation in the flow and a length of the pipe line from the mixing valve to the machine tool, and irrespective of a viscosity of the lubrication oil, and as well, irrespective of the installation of the detecting portion of the detecting means in a vertical direction or a horizontal direction.

Oil/air lubrication system

In a tool holder, when oil supplied via an oil supply passage and an oil introducing passage reaches an atomizing space, the oil is atomized by an air flow of carrier gas consisting of compressed air, and then water supplied from a water supply passage and a water introducing passage is formed into a water drop in the atomizing space by an air flow of oil containing compressed air to generate the water drop with oil film in which the oil film is formed on a surface of the water drop. Since the water drop with oil film is supplied to a work piece through a top nozzle and an in-tool passage, the water drop with oil film is generated at an extremely close location to a tool, and therefore, responsiveness when supplying the water drop with oil film to the work piece can be enhanced.

Tool holder

The invention provides a mixer for forming a thin oil film on a surface of a drop of water which can effectively form a drop of water with an oil film. A mixer for forming a thin oil film on a surface of a drop of water is constituted by an oil mist forming chamber for forming an oil supplied from an outer portion in a mist shape by an air stream, a drop of water forming chamber for forming a water supplied from the outer portion by the air stream containing the oil formed in a mist shape in the oil mist forming chamber in a drop of water shape so as to form a drop of water with an oil structured such that a thin oil film is formed on a surface of the drop of water, and a top nozzle for discharging the drop of water with the oil film formed in the drop of water forming chamber to an outer portion. In accordance with the structure mentioned above, it is possible to effectively form the drop of water with the oil film.
