A riveting apparatus has a support die with a support surface. The support surface supports a rivet that extends through a circuit board and an electrical connector. The support surface has a first inclined surface, a second inclined surface, and a depression positioned therebetween. The depression receives a head of the rivet and positionally aligns the rivet with an upper tool unit as the rivet is guided across the first inclined surface toward the second inclined surface. The upper tool unit fastens the rivet to the circuit board.

Riveting apparatus

A rivet coupling device has a connector holder unit which carries connectors and a board . A supporting die is disposed beneath the connectors , and an upper tool unit is disposed above the connectors . The upper tool unit can be lowered in order to couple rivets . In conjunction with this movement, a link mechanism is actuated to move a cam plate , whereby the supporting die is raised slightly by cam projections , so that the rivets extending through the connector are deformed between crimpers on the upper tool unit and the supporting die . Prior to rivet coupling, a slight gap is formed by the spring terminals between the board and the connector . After rivet coupling is performed, this gap is eliminated without deforming the board

The template (90) comprises a comb member (91) formed with guide grooves (91a) for guiding two of the plurality of electrical wires in the direction of movement, comb member (92) formed with guide grooves to guide three electrical wires to the predetermined direction, a comb member (93) to shift two electrical wires by one pitch thereof, a comb member (94) to shift three electrical wires by one pitch thereof, spacers (95), (96) disposed at both sides of the comb member (94), spacers (97, 98) disposed at both sides of the comb member (93), and a substrate (100) to arrange and hold the above comb members and the spacers.

Template for guiding a plurality of wires

Simultaneous attaching of wires (13) through the pressure-connecting method to a number of electrical connectors (11) arranged in a row, makes it possible to process a larger number of electrical connectors at one time. A position-determining device (55) is provided for each electrical connector (11) which makes it possible to determine the position of each pressure-type contact of said electrical connectors (11) arranged in a row. The positioning determining device (55) is used to align a plurality of the electrical connectors (11) so that tolerance differences are not cumulative. FIG. 12.

Equipment for connecting wires to electrical connectors

An apparatus (11) for stripping cable (12) to remove a section of cable jacket (13) includes opposed stripping blades (15) each having a pair of adjacent blade sections (18) including semi-circular cutting edges (19) defined by grooves (20) operable to cut the jacket (13) peripherally with the adjacent blade sections (18) driven axially apart in a relative sense to pull the cut section of the jacket away from the cable. Pairs of guide and gripping members (16) having internesting teeth (23, 24) are positioned adjacent the blade sections (18) to grip the cable (12) and provide a support for the cable. A suction device (17) is displaced axially to receive the cut jacket section and remove such from the stripping site.

Cable stripping apparatus

A tool for stripping outer and inner jackets from an end of a transmission cable comprises upper and lower guide members (18, 19) normally spaced from each other defining an opening (23) therebetween and having first and second guide means (24, 26), cutting blade means (17a, 17b) mounted on the guide members and having first and second cutting sections (17c, 17d; 17e, 17f) aligned respectively with the first and second guide means (24, 26), a support surface (25) on one of the guide members (19) and a cutting member (20b) on the other guide member (18) in alignment with the support surface (25), operating means (11, 11a, 28) connected to the guide members (18, 19) to move them toward and away from each other when the cable is placed in the first guide means (24) so that the first cutting section (17c, 17d) cuts and strips an end of the outer jacket from the cable, then exposed fused ends of the inner jackets are placed on the support surface (25) so that the cutting member (20b) slits the fused inner jackets separating them whereafter the separated inner jackets are placed in the second guide means (26) so that the second cutting section (17e, 17f) cuts and strips ends of the inner jackets from the cable thereby exposing transmission members (2).
