A Data Storage Device (DSD) includes a disk to store data, at least one head to read and write data on the disk, and a Voice Coil Motor (VCM) to move the at least one head over the disk. An upper velocity limit is reduced for moving the at least one head to perform a command to read or write data at a target location on the disk as a precautionary measure against damaging the at least one head during an Emergency Power Off (EPO) state. The upper velocity limit is reduced in response to the target location being in an Outer Diameter (OD) region of the disk, a direction needed to move the at least one head being in an Inner Diameter (ID) to OD direction, and a starting position being at least as radially far from an OD region position as a predetermined threshold.

Earmuffs include a bowl-shaped housing base having a first engagement portion, an annular plate-shaped base plate having a second engagement portion on one side and a third engagement portion on the other side, and is integrated with the housing base by causing the second engagement portion to be engaged with the first engagement portion, and a pad portion that includes a pad fixed on one side and a pad base having a fourth engagement portion on the other side, and is integrated with the base plate by causing the fourth engagement portion to be engaged with the third engagement portion. The base plate has a groove portion adjacent to the third engagement portion and the pad base has a rib that enters the groove portion. The rib enters the groove portion and restricts an inclination of the third engagement portion involved with an engagement with the fourth engagement portion.

A sound pickup device according to this embodiment includes a microphone part placed at a sound pickup position in close proximity to an ear hole without blocking an ear canal, and positioned so as to face outside of the ear canal, and a wire having flexibility and extending to the sound pickup position. A microphone according to an embodiment includes: an ear chip including a cylindrical part with a hollow part formed therein, and a contact part disposed outside the cylindrical part and configured to come into contact with an inner wall surface of an ear canal; a cable lead out to a gap between the cylindrical part and the contact part; and a microphone element disposed in the hollow part and connected to the cable.

Microphone and sound pickup method

A headphone has a speaker unit with a diaphragm and a driving source that vibrates the diaphragm along a driving axis that passes through the speaker unit. The speaker unit has a first face and an opposing second face along the driving axis. The diaphragm and the driving source are installed in the speaker unit between the first and second faces. First and second weighting members are fixed as being in contact with the first and second faces, respectively. The speaker unit and the weighting members are installed in a housing. At least either of the weighting members is fixed to the housing. The speaker unit is installed in the housing via the weighting members so that the speaker unit is not in direct contact with the housing. The weighting members have a higher specific gravity than the housing.

Headphone

A headphone set has a housing to contain a speaker unit, with a sound emitting surface through which sounds given off by the speaker unit are emitted out, and an ear pad attached to the housing to surround the sound emitting surface. The ear pad has a protruding member and an arc-like member sticking out in opposite directions. The degree of sticking out for the arc-like member is smaller than the degree of sticking out for the protruding member. The protruding member has an inner space interposed between a top section and an opposing bottom section closer than the top section to the sound emitting section. The arc-like member has a top section and an opposing bottom section closer than the top section to the sound emitting surface. The top section of the protruding member is positioned farther than that of the arc-like member from the sound emitting surface.

Headphones

A resist coating method includes the steps of dripping solvent onto a wafer and rotating the wafer, and then dripping resist onto the wafer and rotating the wafer. Since resist can be dispensed without waste, the total amount of resist used can be reduced. A resist coating apparatus has a wafer support for rotating a wafer placed thereupon, a first nozzle for dripping solvent onto the wafer, a second nozzle for dripping solvent onto the wafer, and a controller for controlling the dripping of resist onto the wafer after solvent has been dripped. By employing this apparatus, the total amount of resist used can thereby be reduced. Furthermore, the total amount of resist used can be further reduced by further providing a temperature controller for lowering the resist temperature to 1-5.degree. C. below room temperature.

Resist coating method and resist coating apparatus

A process for preparing acetic acid from methanol and carbon monoxide or a mixed gas of carbon monoxide with hydrogen, which process comprises contacting methanol with a gaseous component selected from a group consisting of carbon monoxide and a mixed gas of carbon monoxide with hydrogen of 2% by volume or less in the presence of a carbon-supported rhodium metal catalyst and methyl iodide promoter in vapor phase under the conditions of a reaction temperature of 180.degree.-220.degree. C., a reaction pressure of 5-10 kg/cm.sup.2 .multidot.G, and a weight of catalyst to feed gas flow rate ratio (W/F) of 10-20 g.multidot.h/mole; and a process for preparing acetic acid from methanol and carbon monoxide, which process comprises contacting methanol with carbon monoxide in the presence of a carbon-supported rhodium metal catalyst, methyl iodide promoter and water in vapor phase.

A hydrogen producing apparatus for producing hydrogen on an industrial scale by steam reforming reactions and separating hydrogen using a hydrogen-permeable membrane, including nested outer (14), intermediate (18) and inner (20) cylinders, a combustion burner (44) disposed toward the inner hollow chamber of the inner cylinder (20), a catalyst layer (A) in the annulus (30) between the intermediate (18) and inner (20) cylinders, hydrogen-permeable tubes (32) disposed in the catalyst layer (A-30), and sweep gas supply tubes (34) in the hydrogen-permeable tubes (32). The raw material gas is fed to the catalyst layer (A) and is converted into hydrogen at a high temperature produced by the burner (44), the produced hydrogen permeates the hydrogen-permeable tubes (32) which selectively separate and collect the hydrogen, and the permeated hydrogen flows with the sweep gas out of the apparatus through the outlet (52) for the sweep tubes (34).

Hydrogen producing apparatus

A method of purifying NOx-containing exhaust gases characterized by using ammonium acetate as a reducing agent with a zeolite-based catalyst. NO.sub.x in NO.sub.x -containing exhaust gases can be removed extremely effectively even at a low concentration thereof by using Fe-treated mordenite as a zeolite-based catalyst according to said method, and since it uses ammonium acetate as a reducing agent, an excellent effect free from ammonia leakage can be obtained. Particularly NO.sub.x in NO.sub.x -containing exhaust gases can be removed effectively at and around a discharge temperature of an exhaust gas from a gas engine in the presence of ammonium acetate as a reducing agent by constituting Fe-containing mordenite as a monolithic material. Hence, it makes it possible to obtain an excellent effect of simplifying the whole denitration system without needing temperature control of an exhaust gas and/or a catalyst bed. In addition, the NO.sub.x -purifying ability of the catalyst does not decrease over a long period of time.
