Technologies are described related to communication interfaces for wearable devices. User experience with wearable devices may be enhanced through tailored views for communications, calendar items, actions associated with those, where the views and presentations may be dynamically selected and adjusted based on context, user, location, and device capabilities. Smart notifications and user-friendly note taking functionality may be enabled also based on context, user, location, and device capabilities. Other scenarios may be unlocked based on proximity and/or sensor data.

Communication interface for wearable devices

Template based calendar events with graphic enrichment are provided. In some examples, upon receiving a request to create a calendar event, an event creation prompt may be presented. The prompt may include an event template selection element comprising visual aids, such as icons or emojis, that each represent different event templates for selection. Upon receiving a visual aid selection, information associated with the user requesting the calendar event may be retrieved based on the selected visual aid to infer one or more aspects of the requested event such as title, timing, and location. A suggested event with the inferred aspects may be presented to the user and upon receiving confirmation and/or modification, the suggested or modified event may be added to the user's calendar. Some events may be presented with a visual background such as an image or graphics on the calendar for prompt recognition.

Restructuring a view of messages based on configurable persistence is provided. An application such as a communication application displays summaries of messages within a summary pane of a messaging user interface (UI). The messages include emails. An action is detected to reorder one of the summaries on a top location of a date section of the summary pane. Reorder options are displayed to identify a reorder time of the summary. A selection of one of the reorder options is detected as the reorder time. The summary is relocated to the top location of the date section of the summary pane to display the first summary at the top location of the date section during the reorder time.

Implementations of customizable graphical user interfaces for data management in computing systems are disclosed herein. In one example, a computer application is executed on a computing device to provide a graphical user interface having a background containing multiple interface regions separate from one another and individually having a corresponding data source. Upon receiving a command from a user, the executed computer application can customize the graphical user interface by modifying a size, a relative placement, a data source, or a format of one or more of the multiple interface regions in accordance with the command from the user, and thus allowing customization of the graphical user interface.

A rich preview of a communication in a communication summary is provided. A communication application analyzes a communication to identify relevant items within the communication. A communication summary of the communication is created with the relevant items. Next, the communication summary is presented with the relevant items. Interaction elements are also provided to manage a presentation of the relevant items.

Prioritized and categorized presentation of incoming communications is provided based on characteristics of the communications such as sender, recipients, subject, body content, recipient's past interactions, and similar ones. User or administrator defined explicit rules and configurations may be taken into consideration along with analysis results of incoming communication attributes and user history in determining a category and a priority level for the incoming communication. The incoming communication may then be presented according to the determined category and priority level along with tools for the recipient to modify automatic determinations and otherwise interact with the communication.

Techniques disclosed herein facilitate the use of the primary work queue within an information management application as a centralized access point for creating and viewing multiple types of new draft items such as a note, to-do, or message item. An information management application can receive a new item request through its user interface and initiate a new draft item in response to the new item request. A view of new draft item can then be surfaced in a primary work queue of the information management application. The item type of the new draft item may be different than other item types in the primary work queue.

Technologies are generally described for providing a system for visualizing items and conversations in a communication application. Conversations are presented as a list of items in the communication application. A quantity of presented items is limited based on a size of a client device employed for viewing the items. Visualizations are applied to the presented items to attempt to maximize a number of items that are presented while providing information about the items to enable a user to preview content and take actions on the items. The visualizations include different templates applied to each item based on a type of item and content associated with the item, and the templates may be are dynamically updated based on user interactions with the items. The templates for items are determined by applying a set of rules and factors to each item to determine a most appropriate visualization for each item.
