A biaxially oriented film made from a wholly aromatic polyamide produced by an acid chloride process, which contains at least one member of inorganic particles having an average particle diameter of 5 to 2,000 nm and selected from the group consisting of hydroxides, carbonates and bicarbonates of metals of groups Ia and IIa of the periodic table. The inorganic particles is derived from inorganic particles which are added as a neutralizing agent to a reaction system to neutralize hydrogen chloride by-produced by the acid chloride reaction and its content corresponds to an excess portion added to the reaction system over the amount required for neutralizing the hydrogen chloride stoichiometrically. The film is useful as a base film for a magnetic recording medium, such as a coated, a multi-layer coated, or a thin metal film high-density magnetic recording medium.

Silicone adhesive film

A laminated film comprising (A) an aromatic polyester film; and (B) a hydrophilic coating layer which is present on at least one side of the aromatic polyester film (A) and has a surface energy of at least 54 dyne/cm, the coating layer comprising (a) 50 to 80% by weight of a copolyester which contains a dicarboxylic acid component having a sulfonate group in an amount of 1 to 16 mol % of the total of all dicarboxylic acid components and has a secondary transition point of 20 to 90.degree. C., (b) 10 to 30% by weight of poly(alkylene oxide) homopolymer having a number average molecular weight of 600 to 2,000, and (c) 3 to 25% by weight of fine particles having an average particle diameter of 20 to 80 nm, based on the total of components (a), (b) and (c). The above laminated film is useful as a transparency for an overhead projector and a recording paper for an ink jet printer.

An adherent polyester film laminate (A) having a coating layer of a composition formed on one side or both sides of a polyester film, the composition comprising, as main components, (i) an aqueous polyester having a secondary transition point of 40 to 85.degree. C. and (ii) a fatty acid bisamide; a polyester film laminate (B) having a hard coat layer formed on the coating layer of the laminate (A); and a polyester film laminate (C) having an anti-reflection layer formed on the hard coat layer of the laminate (B). Since these laminates are excellent in adhesive force, transparency and slipperiness and has an anti-reflection property, they are useful as a face surface protective material for glass and displays.

A photoresist layer supporting polyester film which is a biaxially oriented film formed from a polyester containing 0.01 to 0.1% by weight of porous silica particles that are agglomerates of primary particles having an average particle diameter of 0.01 to 0.1 .mu.m and have an average particle diameter of 0.1 to 5 .mu.m and a pore volume of 0.5 to 2.0 ml/g, the number of the porous silica coarse particles having a major diameter of not smaller than 50 .mu.m being 10 or less per m.sup.2 ; and a photoresist film laminate comprising the above polyester film and a photoresist layer and a protective film, the photoresist layer and the protective film being laminated on one surface of the photoresist layer supporting polyester film. The above photoresist layer supporting polyester film is excellent in transparency and handling properties (slipperiness), and the above photoresist film laminate has excellent resolution and is almost free from circuit defect.

An image forming apparatus that can be charged with a sheet cassette with a resealable flexible cover includes a roller member engageable with and translatable across the cover to wind the cover on the roller member. The size of the sheet material accommodated in the sheet cassette can be determined from a bar code and the movement of the roller member can be adjusted in accordance with the size of the sheet material. Timers can be set to provide predetermined time periods relative to the translating opening and closing movement of the roller member and, if these time periods expire, an indicator can be provided to the operator.

Disclosed is a disposable sheet cassette and an image forming apparatus in which such a sheet cassette is preferably employed. The sheet cassette is comprised of a cassette box capable of accommodating a plurality of sheet materials and having a flange portion extending outwards from the cassette box, an adhesive layer formed on the flange portion, and a sheet cover bonded on the adhesive layer for covering an opening of the sheet cassette. A portion of the sheet cover can be repeatedly separated from or applied to the adhesive layer to open or close the opening. The image forming apparatus is provided with a take-up roller movable above the sheet cover for winding the sheet cover, a pair of roller supports for rotatably supporting the take-up roller, a driving mechanism for moving the roller supports and for rotating the take-up roller, and a control system for operating the driving mechanism so that the take-up roller can wind the sheet cover after the sheet cassette has been charged in the apparatus.

A multi-processor system wherein two processors are connected through a dual port memory which receives from one of the processors an interruption request signal together with the data to be transmitted to the other processor. The dual port memory then generates an interrupt signal for the other processor so that the other processor can fetch the data from the dual port memory using an interrupt procedure. The one processor also receives the interrupt signal transmitted by the dual port memory in order to confirm the status of the interrupt signal generating function of the dual port memory.

An sheet handling apparatus includes suckers for sucking up a sheet from a sheet storing unit and two sensors which are disposed on the suckers. One of the sensors detects whether the suckers come into contact with the topmost sheet of a sheet stack in the sheet storing unit, and the other sensor detects whether there is a sheet in the sheet storing unit. After the suckers were operated to suck up a sheet, these sensors detect whether the suckers catch the sheet.

An image forming apparatus includes a regulating member for regulating a sheet fed from the magazine in the widthwise direction, the regulating member being movable between a regulating position and a retreating position. The image forming apparatus further includes a cover member for opening and closing the magazine. A recording medium detecting apparatus detects the fact that a recording medium has been conveyed to an image forming part of a laser beam printer. The image forming part is provided with a driving roller for producing a rotational motion and a following roller held in pressed contact with the driving roller and consequently allowed to follow the rotational motion. The thrust of the recording medium in between the two rollers is discriminated by the detection of a change in the rotational speed of the driving roller which change is caused by the thrust of the recording medium in between the rollers. In accordance with the result of detection of this thrust, the timing for image formation in the image forming part is controlled. Thus, the arrival of the recording medium at a prescribed destination can be detected without requiring use of a sensor or a switch. Where a plurality of recording media are conveyed in a superposed state, the number of these recording media can be discriminated by detecting the amount of change in the rotation speed. The display part for displaying the residual amount of recording media is controlled in accordance with the number of recording media involved in the thrust. The display part tells the operator the residual amount of recording media.

A sheet feed arrangement is provided in an image forming apparatus such as a printer or the like and is comprised of a sheet cassette for accommodating a plurality of sheet materials, a feed roller assembly disposed above the sheet cassette for feeding the sheet materials sheet by sheet by contacting with an upper surface of a topmost sheet of the sheet materials accommodated in the sheet cassette, and a tiltable guide plate disposed downstream from the feed roller assembly in a direction of feed of the sheet materials for guiding the sheet materials. The guide member can tilt together with the feed roller assembly so that an end portion of the guide member may be introduced in or removed from an inner end portion of the sheet cassette. The sheet feed arrangement is further comprised of a sheet lifting mechanism disposed below the sheet cassette for listing end portions of the sheet materials when the sheet materials are fed from the sheet cassette. The end portions of the sheet materials are lowered by the sheet lifting mechanism when the sheet cassette is removed from the image forming apparatus.
