One object is to provide a fishing reel including a magnetic fluid sealed bearing wherein foreign substances are shut out from the magnetic fluid seal to prevent degradation of the magnetic fluid (degradation of the magnetic sealing function). In accordance with one aspect, the fishing reel of the present invention includes a magnetic fluid sealed bearing rotatably supporting a drive shaft (pinion). Protection walls are disposed opposite to each other on or near the sides of the bearing body so as to shut out foreign substances from the bearing body of the magnetic fluid sealed bearing.

A reel body of a double bearing reel according to the invention has a left side plate that has a circular shape as viewed laterally and is situated further from a handle. An outer diameter of a right frame body that serves as another side plate situated closer to the handle is larger than an outer diameter of the left side plate. The reel body includes one or more connecting members that connect the left side plate and the right frame body. Among the connecting members, at least the connecting member that connects the side plates in front of the spool has a planar outer surface facing away from the spool and a curved inner surface facing the spool. The inner surface is formed to be convex outward, and the connecting member is connected to the left side plate through an arc-like bowed portion.

One object is to maintain the moving performance of a power transmission member for a long period and maintain excellent operation of a clutch mechanism. In accordance with one aspect, the clutch mechanism includes a power transmission member supported by a bearing so as to be rotatable and movable in an axial direction of the spool shaft, the power transmission member being switched between a line-winding state wherein the power transmission member is moved toward the spool and transmits a rotational drive force from the handle to the spool shaft and a free-spool state wherein the power transmission member is moved opposite to the spool and shuts off the rotational drive force.

The present invention provides an identification marker responsive to IFN therapy for renal cell cancer and a means of detecting the same. Namely, a method which comprises preparing a genomic DNA of a human gene or a complementary strand thereof from a specimen of a patient with renal cell cancer, analyzing the DNA sequence of the genomic DNA or the complementary strand thereof to determine the gene polymorphism of the human gene, and evaluating the tumor-suppression effect of IFN therapy on renal cell cancer by using the polymorphism as an indicator.

A double bearing type reel includes: a reel main body having a pair of side plates; a spool rotatably supported between the side plates; and a fishline guide device reciprocatingly provided between the side plates extending in front of the spool, said fishline guide device winding a fishline parallel around the spool. The fishline guide device includes a fishline guide portion having a lower portion which guides the fishline in a fishline take-up state and an upper portion which guides the fishline in a fishline play-out state. The upper portion is larger in width than the lower portion. The fishline guide device may have a pair of arm portions movably supported to the side plates by outer ends thereof.

A reel for fishing is capable of mounting a fishing rod in its leading end in the direction in which a fishline is played out. The reel for fishing has a reel body which is provided with a spool on which the fishline is wound up, a handle to be driven to rotate the spool in the fishline-winding-up direction, and a grip portion to be held integrally with the reel body at the time of actual fishing. An opening is formed in the reel body, which opening is capable of smoothly thumbing the spool along the direction of the thumb which is gripping and holding the grip portion.

In a fishing reel, a rotary body (a drive gear) has an accommodating section at the center which includes a round hole and a recess. The accommodating section accommodates the thick annular liner of a brake member in a brake device, and the detection brake body. The liner is made of felt, cork, leather or fiber-reinforced synthetic resin. The detection brake body is in the form of a disk, and is mounted on a shaft, which is a handle shaft. The bottom surface of the recess of the rotary body is formed into the uneven portion. The detection brake body has a through-hole, to which one end portion of the detecting piece is secured, for instance, by spot welding, and the other end portion of the detecting piece is extended so as to be engageable with the uneven portion. When the liner is worn out to a predetermined value, the detecting piece is contacted and engaged with the uneven portion to generate a sound.
