An image processing apparatus includes an information processor that is controlled by a general-purpose operating system, and an image processor. The information processor performs a function in a category different from an image processing function performed in the image processor. As a result, a general purpose application program can be used as software for making effective use of the image processing function. Therefore, it is possible to facilitate development of the software to allow the image processing apparatus to perform the function in a category different from the image processing function performed in the image processor, in addition to the image processing function as a basic function.

In a zoom lens device of a two-lens group structure, positive and negative lens groups are sequentially arranged from a photographing field side. A photographing optical system in a varifocal lens is constructed by only a main lens at a wide angle time and a sublens moved backward from the main lens at a telescopic time. A wide angle pattern for prescribing a focusing region at the wide angle time is proximately disposed backward from a focusing starting position at the wide angle time. A telescopic pattern for prescribing a focusing region at the telescopic time is proximately disposed forward from a focusing starting position at the telescopic time. A sliding brush 16 is disposed in a front group frame for holding the main lens and is slidably moved on the wide angle and telescopic patterns to detect the respective focusing regions of the main lens at focal lengths and the focusing starting positions. A focusing position of the lens system is detected by a digital signal generator composed of a rotary encoder rotated in association with the operation of a drive motor.

A position control device which comprises a ratch wheel adapted to rotate in interlock with motion of an object to be positioned, a rotation detecting unit adapted to detect an amount of rotation of the ratch wheel, a combination solenoid provided with a pawl and adapted to be driven in a direction of bringing the pawl into engagement with the ratch wheel and in a direction of separating the pawl from the ratch wheel, and a combination solenoid control unit adapted to actuate the aforementioned combination solenoid in such a manner as to bring the pawl into engagement with the ratch wheel to set the object at a prescribed position when the aforementioned rotation detecting unit detects that the amount of the rotation of the ratch wheel has reached a prescribed level.

A motor-driven film winder for use with a camera includes an exposure inhibit signal generator for generating an exposure inhibit signal when the number of frames to be exposed which is set by an exposure setting unit coincides with the number of exposed frames counted by a counter. The motor-driven film winder also has an unexposed frame indicator for indicating the difference between the number of frames set by the exposure setting unit and the count of the counter as the number of remaining unexposed frames when a shutter release operation of the camera is interrupted before the count of the counter reaches the preset number of frames to be exposed, and an intermittent exposure canceling signal generator for issuing an intermittent exposure cancelling signal to an intermittent exposure signal generator when the preset number of frames to be exposed coincides with the counter of the counter.
