An emission cleaning installation which is easy to connect continuously even to existing large-scale incineration furnaces and which is able to oxidatively break down and eliminate environmental pollutants contained in the emissions, for example dioxins, dibenzofurans, coplanar PCBs, nitrogen oxides (NOx) and the like without temperature control of the emission temperature, by the photocatalytic action of the photocatalyst, and to a method for emission cleaning and elimination which uses the abovementioned emission cleaning installation.

Emission cleaning installation and cleaning method for emissions

A dental resin material mixed with a composition containing, as a maincomponent, titanium dioxide whose surface has been partly coated with apatite. In the dental resin material, it is preferable that anatase-, rutile-, brookit-type titanium dioxide or a mixture of these components is used as the titanium dioxide. The apatite for partial coating of titanium dioxide is produced by immersing powdery titanium dioxide in a pseudo body fluid and stirring the immersed titanium dioxide approximately at the same temperature as a human body temperature, i.e., 36&deg; C. In this instance, it is important that the apatite is deposited in the form of platy crystals of less than 2 mm in thickness to cover 0.001-10% of the surface of titanium dioxide.

A photocatalytic powder for environmental clarification, comprising finely divided titanium dioxide particles having a coating of porous calcium phosphate formed on at least part of the surface of each titanium dioxide particle, wherein an anionic surface active agent is present at least on the interface between said coating of porous calcium phosphate and the titanium dioxide particle. This photocatalytic powder is produced by dispersing finely divided titanium dioxide particles in an aqueous slurry containing an anionic surface active agent, and then forming a coating of porous calcium phosphate on at least part of the surface of each titanium dioxide particle. A porous ceramic film having micropores of uniform diameter is formed on a substrate by depositing on the substrate a layer of a ceramic sol containing polyethylene glycol or polyethylene oxide and then heating the substrate. This porous ceramic film is used as a catalyst or catalyst support. When the ceramic of this film is titanium oxide, the film is particularly useful as a photocatalyst for the decomposition of harmful and malodorous substances.

A coating composition which is excellent in water resistance, weatherability and durability and can maintain its appearance for a prolonged period of time can be provided. A coating composition comprising a coating component and a photocatalyst containing calcium phosphate and titanium oxide is disclosed. As the photocatalyst, use is made of titanium oxide particles partially covered thereon with calcium phosphate, or porous body coated thereon with a film of titanium oxide, the film of titanium oxide being further covered partially thereon with calcium phosphate. The crystal form of titanium oxide is preferably anatase. The organic coating includes vinyl-type synthetic resin emulsions, and the inorganic coating is e.g. a solution containing a metal alkoxide for forming a film by a sol-gel method.

A deodorizing lamp comprises a lamp unit and a titanium oxide film coating the glass surface of the lamp unit and optionally at least one metal selected from among iron, platinum, rhodium, ruthenium, palladium, silver, copper, zinc, and manganese deposited on the surface of the titanium oxide film. The present invention aims at providing an economical process for purifying water which can produce clean water by treating polluted water, which contains agricultural chemicals, organic solvents (particularly, halocarbon) and surface active agents (particularly, those with side chains) which are hard to treat according to a conventional activated sludge process, under moderate conditions readily and promptly, and also, which process is characterized by adding titanium oxide and iron salt into water to be treated, and irradiating light thereupon.
