A straddled vehicle includes a straddled vehicle body, a front wheel that supports the vehicle body, a rear wheel that supports the vehicle body, a front wheel electric motor that imparts a driving force to the front wheel, a rear wheel electric motor that imparts a driving force to the rear wheel, a front wheel motor drive unit that drives the front wheel electric motor, a rear wheel motor drive unit that drives the rear wheel electric motor, and a control unit. The control unit is programmed to provide a front wheel drive command to the front wheel motor drive unit and to provide a rear wheel drive command, differing from the front wheel drive command, to the rear wheel motor drive unit so as to provide a time difference in changes of the driving forces of the front wheel electric motor and the rear wheel electric motor.

A heat exchanger includes an electrolytic bath and a control section. The electrolytic bath has first and second channels. A first fluid can flow through the first channel. A second fluid adapted to exchange heat with the first fluid can flow through the second channel. At least part of the first and second channels of the electrolytic bath is partitioned by anode and cathode plates to which a given potential is applied from a power source. The control section applies the given potential to the anode and cathode plates and performs polarity reversal adapted to reverse the polarity of the anode and cathode plates after having applied the given potential at given time intervals.

An electrically assisted vehicle includes a vehicle body, pedals to input human power, a crank that is coupled to the pedals and freely rotatably supported on the vehicle body, a wheel (i.e., at least one wheel) that is attached to the vehicle body and rotates according to a rotation of the crank, a first electric motor that is attached to the vehicle body and drives the wheel, a second electric motor that is attached to the vehicle body and drives the wheel or another wheel, a torque detection unit that detects a torque applied to the crank, a torque command value calculation unit, and a motor drive unit that drives the first electric motor and second electric motor according to a calculated torque command value. The torque command value calculation unit calculates a first torque command value for the first electric motor and a second torque command value for the second electric motor according to a torque detected by the torque detection unit, and calculates the first and second torque command values such that the first and second torque command values are mutually shifted in phase.

A vehicle includes a wheel, an electric motor that drives the wheel, a drive torque operator that is operated by an operator, a slip detection unit that detects a slipping state of the wheel, a torque command value calculation unit that calculates a torque command value for the electric motor, and a motor drive unit that drives the electric motor according to a calculated torque command value. When the slip detection unit has not detected a slipping state of the wheel, the torque command value calculation unit calculates a torque command value for the electric motor according to an input to the drive torque operator. When the slip detection unit has detected a slipping state of the wheel, the torque command value calculation unit calculates a torque command value that repeatedly fluctuates alternately between a first value not more than a torque command value at the time when wheel slip has been detected and a second value smaller than the first value.

An automatic centrifugal clutch is interposed in a power transmission system between an engine and a driving wheel. A motor, which is capable of generating electricity, is supplied with electricity from a battery to generate auxiliary power. The motor is connected to a crankshaft of the engine. An acceleration data acquisition component acquires the accelerator operation amount and the accelerator operation speed. A rotational speed detection component detects the speed of the crankshaft. A rotational speed estimation component is adapted to estimate the engagement completion rotational speed, which is a rotational speed at which the automatic centrifugal clutch is completely engaged, based upon the acceleration data acquired by the acceleration data acquisition component. A motor controller supplies the motor with a magnitude of electricity in accordance with the acceleration data when the rotational speed detected by the rotational speed detection component has reached the engagement completion rotational speed estimated by the rotational speed estimation component.

Power control for hybrid motorcycle

An automatic centrifugal clutch is interposed in a power transmission system between an engine and a driving wheel. A motor, which is capable of generating electricity, is supplied with electricity from a battery to generate auxiliary power. The motor is connected to a crankshaft of the engine. An acceleration data acquisition component acquires the accelerator operation amount and the accelerator operation speed. A delay time setting component sets a delay time according to the acceleration data. A motor controller supplies the motorwith a magnitude of electricity in accordance with the acceleration operation amount after the delay time has elapsed from the moment when an accelerator grip was moved from an idle position.

A push rod operated multi-valve V-type engine particularly adapted for use in motorcycles or like vehicles and which engine is air cooled. The engine employs a very simplified construction and overhead valve actuating mechanism utilizing push rods. The push rods are contained within push rod tubes formed at one side of the engine that provide a neat appearance and ease of servicing without adversely affecting the air cooling. A composite cylinder head construction is employed, as well as an improved lubricating system for the pair of driven camshafts. Furthermore, a decompression system is incorporated in the valve actuating mechanism so as to facilitate starting.

A push rod operated multi-valve V-type engine particularly adapted for use in motorcycles or like vehicles and which engine is air cooled. A wheelchair having an electric motor power assist controlled by a sensor that senses the manual force applied by a rider to the hand rim. An arrangement is provided for facilitating adjustment of the sensor so as to permit accurate adjustment without requiring special tools or gages. This mechanism includes an LED that outputs a signal when the sensor signal output is zero. In addition, an arrangement is provided for facilitating the adjustment of the spring and also for ensuring that the hand rim is axially located so as to preclude cocking and binding.

A number of embodiments of electric motor controls for electric power assisted vehicles. The controls all provide for regenerative braking to be automatically enabled upon the sensing of a failure in the control system. The regenerative braking is, however, discontinued once the vehicle stops so that it can be easily pushed by hand without drag from the electric motor.

An induction system for the internal combustion engine of a snowmobile that includes first and second air filters the first of which is disposed within the engine compartment and is not readily viewed by the operator and the second of which is disposed so that it can be viewed externally from the engine compartment for the operator to determine if it has been clogged with snow and requires servicing. In addition, a portion of the air flowing to the engine is heated by passing it through the engine compartment while another portion is direct atmospheric air for controlling the temperature of the air delivered to the engine without large temperature variations to insure better running under all ambient conditions.

A flat wire harness attaching unit for installing a flat wire harness onto a vehicle body. The flat wire harness is composed of a plurality of wires covered with synthetic resin insulation which wires are bundled and united into a flat integral structure by melting the synthetic resin insulation. The wire harness attaching unit has a clip section and an attaching section. The clip section is provided for association with a vehicle body side whereas the attaching section is made of a material capable of being made integral with the synthetic resin insulation through fusion to be secured to one of the surfaces of the flat wire harness. The clip section may be integral with or separate from the attaching section.
