In a power conversion apparatus, at least one intra-casing cooling passage is a passage through which a coolant for cooling at least a power converter flows, and is arranged in a casing. At least one extra-casing cooling passage communicates with the at least one intra-casing cooling passage and is drawn out from an inside of the casing. The at least one extra-casing cooling passage is disposed not to be in contact to the outer periphery of the casing. The power converter is arranged to be cooled by the coolant flowing through the at least one intra-casing cooling passage, and a heat exchanger and the casing are arranged to be subjected to cooling air, resulting in the heat exchanger and the casing being cooled by the cooling air.

Power conversion apparatus

A cooling device has a cooler, a circulator, a semiconductor temperature detection unit, a refrigerant temperature detection unit, an output acquisition unit, and a flow velocity control unit. An output area of a power converter is divided into a first output area equal to and smaller than a threshold and a second output area exceeding the threshold. The flow velocity control unit controls, in the first output area, the flow velocity of the refrigerant to be maintained within a range where the refrigerant in the heat receiving portion is kept in a non-boiling state; and controls, in the second output area, the flow velocity to be maintained within a range where the refrigerant is in the non-boiling state or a nucleate boiling state. The flow velocity in the second output area is equal to or greater than an upper limit value of the flow velocity in the first output area.

Cooling device

An electric power converter includes a positive and a negative electrode terminals being disposed parallel and adjacent to each other, a positive electrode side switching device connected to the positive electrode terminal, a negative electrode side switching device connected to the negative electrode terminal, an output terminal connected to a connection point between the positive and the negative electrode side switching devices, and a counter conductor facing at least a portion of the positive electrode terminal and at least a portion of the negative electrode terminal in a height direction, the height direction being a direction perpendicular to both an aligned direction and a protruding direction of the positive and the negative electrode terminals. The counter conductor is disposed along a current path of an alternating current flowing through the positive electrode terminal, the positive electrode side switching device, the negative electrode side switching device, and the negative electrode terminal.

Power converter with parasitic inductance reduced by counter conductor

A power converter is provided which includes at least a first and a second magnetic device equipped with coils and an electrical circuit equipped with a conductor disposed on an imaginary plane, defined between the first and second magnetic devices. Magnetic fluxes are emitted from the coils of the first and second magnetic devices, vectors of components which are oriented in directions of axes of turns of conductors of the coils are defined as a first and a second vector, and the first and second magnetic devices are disposed so that an inner product of vectors derived by projecting the first and second vectors on the imaginary plane will be positive. This minimizes electrical noise generated in the electrical circuit.

Power converter

In a push-pull type DC/DC converter capable of operating primary side switching elements alternately, a switching operation section turns on a primary side switching element having a high priority after a mode (d) as a normal state is transferred to a mode (d) as an inverse state during a circulation period when a load current is circulated into the secondary side rectifier elements when all of the primary side switching elements are turned off. To turn on the primary side switching element having a high priority after occurrence of the state transition to the inverse state can reduce a voltage immediately after supplying of electric power to the primary side switching elements with using exciting current and without adding any additional component.

Push-pull type isolated DC/DC converter including zero voltage switching

A reactor includes a laminated core formed by laminating soft-magnetic ribbons in a lamination direction. The laminated core has a gap formed across a magnetic path direction in the laminated core. The laminated core also has a flat facing surface that faces the gap and a pair of flat side surfaces that are respectively on opposite sides of the facing surface in the lamination direction. The laminated core further has a pair of first corner curved surfaces that are formed between the facing surface and the pair of side surfaces. Each of the first corner curved surfaces has a width in the lamination direction greater than the thickness of each of the soft-magnetic ribbons. For each of the first corner curved surfaces, a length of the first corner curved surface in the magnetic path direction is greater than the width of the first corner curved surface in the lamination direction.

Reactor

A boost converter capable of reducing a common-mode current that flows to the outside of a casing. In the converter, a boost circuit includes first and second inductors and at least one switching element electrically connected therebetween. A controller turns on and off the at least one switching element to boost an input voltage of the boost circuit. A first floating capacitor is formed between a first electrical path, which is at the same potential as a junction between the at least one switching element and the first inductor, and a mounting member coupled to a reference potential member with an insulator therebetween. A second floating capacitor is formed between a second electrical path, which is at the same potential as a junction between the at least one switching element and the second inductor, and the mounting member.

Boost converter

In a band elimination filter, a plurality of capacitors are connected in parallel between first and second terminals of an electromagnetic noise source which generates voltage fluctuations in a connecting lead connected to the first terminal, with the capacitors being connected to the connecting lead at respectively corresponding branch points. For each capacitor, the total series inductance of a first circuit path is made less than that of a second circuit path, where the first circuit path extends from the corresponding branch point to the second terminal via the capacitor, and the second circuit path extends from that branch point to the first terminal of the electromagnetic noise source. A resistor is connected in series with at least one of the capacitors, for damping parallel resonance caused by inductance components of an adjacent pair of capacitors.

Band elimination filter providing attenuation within wide range of frequencies

In a semiconductor module, a high-potential side conductor includes a wide section on which the high-potential side switching element is mounted, a high-potential side terminal coupled with a high potential source, and a narrow section extending from the wide section to the high-potential side terminal in a first direction. The wide section is wider than the narrow section in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. The wide section has a first side and a second side opposite to the first side in the second direction. A distance between the first side of the wide section and a low-potential side conductor is shorter than a distance between the second side of the wide section and the low-potential side conductor. The narrow section extends from a portion of the wide section closer to the first side than the second side.

Semiconductor module and driving apparatus including semiconductor module

A control system controls a multiphase rotating machine by a 120&#xb0; energization process and a PWM process. In the 120&#xb0; energization process, respective ones of switching elements of a high side arm and switching elements of a low side arm of a power conversion circuit are turned on. In the PWM process, the switching elements of the power conversion circuit turn on/off so that two phases that are connected to the switching elements that are in the on-state are alternately rendered conductive to the high potential side input terminal and the low potential side input terminal of the power conversion circuit.
