A steering force assisting device that includes an electric motor and includes independent two sets of motor driving circuit and control unit, and the electric motor includes coils having the same polarity and different motor characteristics, the coils being wound around each of teeth of a stator of the electric motor. The motor characteristics are a high speed/low torque characteristic and a low speed/high torque characteristic, and may be selected on the basis of the running condition of a vehicle.

Electric power steering

An ECU includes two drive circuits corresponding to the motor coils of two systems independent of each other, and a microcomputer that outputs control signals of two independent systems to the drive circuits. The microcomputer includes a first control signal output portion that outputs the control signal to the drive circuit of the first system by executing an electric current control so as to generate a motor torque that corresponds to the assist force. The microcomputer further includes a second control signal output portion that outputs the control signal to the drive circuit of the second system by executing a position control on the basis of a steering angle command value that is input from a superior ECU via an in-vehicle network so as to change the steering angle of the steering road wheels.

An electric motor has a stator and a rotor that are used in common between two systems. An ECU controls the motor torque by supplying drive electric power to the motor coils independently of each other. When the ECU determines that the vehicle is traveling on a uneven road, the ECU causes the electric motor to perform a braking operation by short-circuiting at least two phases of the electric motor of one of the two systems that is other than the system that is executing a torque control of controlling the assist torque according to the steering torque and the vehicle speed.

In an electric power steering system, a control signal output section outputs independent dual-system control signals to driver circuits that are disposed in connection with independent dual-system motor coils. The control signal output section gives high priority to the output of the control signal to the other system, when the occurrence of energization failure is detected in one system. When the energization failure occurring phase is only one phase and the value of the basic command exceeds the upper limit of the priority command, the control signal output section outputs the control signal to the driver circuit in the system where the energization failure has occurred in order to supply electric power in which the two phases other than the energization failure occurring phase are used as the energized phases on the bases of the complementary command that corresponds to the excess of the upper limit.

Electric power steering system

A motor control signal output unit of an electric power steering system includes a feedback gain calculation unit (), and a feedback control unit executes a feedback control with the use of a proportional gain (Kp) and an integral gain (Ki) that are calculated by the feedback gain calculation unit (). The feedback gain calculation unit () sets the feedback gains to large values (Kp=P, Ki=I) when the absolute value of an assist gradient (&#x3b1;) is equal to or smaller than a predetermined value (&#x3b1;) (|&#x3b1;|&#x2266;&#x3b1;). On the other hand, when the absolute value of the assist gradient (&#x3b1;) exceeds the predetermined value (&#x3b1;) (|&#x3b1;|&#x3e;&#x3b1;), the feedback gain calculation unit () sets the feedback gains to small values (Kp=p, Ki=I:P&#x3c;P, I&#x3c;I).

A current command value computation sectionis provided with a q-axis current command value correction sectionand an expected voltage utilization factor computation section. The expected voltage utilization factor computation sectionestimates an expected voltage utilization factor f based on a rotational angular velocity &#x3c9; of a motor, a q-axis current command value Iq*, and a power voltage Vb (the maximum voltage Vmax). The expected voltage utilization factor f is the ratio of required output voltage to the maximum voltage Vmax applicable to a drive circuit. Based on the expected voltage utilization factor f, the q-axis current command value correction sectioncorrects the q-axis current command value Iq* such that the corrected expected voltage utilization factor f does not exceed a predetermined value that corresponds to the voltage saturation limit.

A film stretcher that transports a film material in a predetermined transport direction while holding an end of the film material in a width direction of the film material to stretch the film material in the width direction includes a holding unit that includes a stretching roll having an annular groove formed on an outer periphery of the stretching roll and an endless wire fitted in the annular groove over a predetermined rotation angle range of the annular groove in a circular arc shape so that the end of the film material in the width direction of the film material is pinched. The stretching roll is inclined so as to open toward a downstream side in the transport direction of the film material. The holding unit transports the film material in the transport direction while pinching the film material using the stretching roll and the endless wire, whereby the film material is stretched in the width direction.

Then, the microcomputerexecutes current feedback control for feeding power to the motorbased on the d-axis current value Id' and the q-axis current value Iq&#x2032; that have been attenuated.

In a case where a computing period of a torque ripple compensation section which computes current compensation values &#x394;id and &#x394;iq to be caused to flow into a motor in order to prevent occurrence of a torque ripple in the motor differs from a control period of a current control section which controls a feedback to the motor in such a way that current command values i*d and i*q additionally provided with the current compensation values &#x394;id and &#x394;iq flow into the motor, the microcomputer sets the current compensation values &#x394;id and &#x394;iq to zero when a rotor angular velocity &#x3c9;re of the motor is equal to or greater than a first threshold value &#x3c9;.

Motor controller and electric power steering system

An assist gradient Ra and also an F/B gain gradient Rp are inputted to an assist gradient compensation control unit. The F/B gradient Rp is added to the assist gradient Ra in an adder and the sum obtained is inputted into a switching control unit. The assist gradient Ra that has been inputted from a basic assist control unit is directly inputted together with the sum to the switching control unit. When a torque feedback control is executed, the switching control unit outputs the sum of the assist gradient Ra and F/B gain gradient Rp to a filter constant computation unit and an assist gradient gain computation unit.
