A liquid discharging method for a liquid head discharge head. The head has discharge ports, liquid flow paths, bubble generating areas, bubble generating means, liquid supply ports connecting the flow paths with a common liquid supply chamber, and a movable member in the flow paths supported with a minute gap to the supply ports. The area of the movable member surrounded at least by its free end and both sides continued therefrom is larger than the opening area of the supply ports. The method includes the step of setting a period for the movable member to substantially close the opening area during the period from the application of a driving voltage to the bubble generating means to the substantial termination of isotropical growth of the entire bubble by the bubble generating means. Growth of the bubble component in the direction opposite the discharge port can be suppressed, improving liquid refill.

A method of manufacturing an ink jet head having a substrate that has a plurality of energy generating elements used for generating energy that in turn is used to discharge ink. The substrate has recessed portions separating the energy generating elements, and a wall member is provided having depending flow passage walls which are joined respectively to the recessed portions. The energy generating elements act on the ink and discharge it through the flow passages.

A liquid ejecting method for ejecting liquid by generation of a bubble includes preparing a head comprising an ejection outlet for ejecting the liquid, a bubble generation region for generating the bubble in the liquid, a movable member disposed faced to the bubble generation region and displaceable between a first position and a second position further from the bubble generation region than the first position; and displacing the movable member from the first position to the second position by pressure produced by the generation of the bubble in the bubble generating portion to permit expansion of the bubble more in a downstream side nearer to the ejection outlet than in an upstream side.

There is disclosed a liquid discharge head comprising: a plurality of discharge ports for discharging a liquid; a plurality of liquid flow paths whose one end portion always communicates with each of the discharge ports and which comprise a bubble generating area for generating a bubble in the liquid; bubble generating means for generating an energy to generate and grow the bubble; a plurality of liquid supply ports, disposed in the liquid flow paths, for communicating with a common liquid supply chamber; and a movable member having a free end supported at a slight gap with respect to the liquid flow path of the liquid supply port, so that recording of a high quality level image is achieved at a high speed. When a volume of a liquid droplet discharged from the discharge port is Vd, and during discharge of the liquid from the discharge port, a drawing volume from the discharge port to a liquid surface retracted to maximum into the liquid flow path is Vm, a relation of Vd>Vm is established. Therefore, meniscus returns fast, and a refill frequency can be enhanced.

Liquid discharge method, head, and apparatus which suppress bubble growth at the upstream side

A method for manufacturing a liquid discharge head comprises the steps of providing a head main body having liquid flow paths, and an aperture surface having flow path openings communicated with the flow paths; providing a discharge port plate having extrusions each on the circumference of an inside opening communicated with each of the discharge ports, being on the inner face on the side opposite to the discharge port surface provided with discharge ports for discharging liquid, and a base having a substantially flat surface. For this method, the discharge port plate is arranged in a state of these surfaces formed integrally to be in contact; bonding the aperture surface and the inner face to fit the extrusions into the flow path openings by pressing the head main body and the base in the direction of the head main body and the base approaching each other with the discharge port plate between them; and separating the base from other members. With the method of manufacture thus structure, the liquid discharge head presents an excellent discharge efficiency by the provision of the extrusions that enter the flow paths from the orifice plate. It also becomes possible to manufacture a highly reliable liquid discharge head by a simpler manufacturing apparatus in a shorter period of time at lower costs.

There is disclosed a liquid discharge head comprises a discharge port for discharging a liquid, a liquid flow path with one end constantly communicating with the discharge port and with a bubble generating area for generating a bubble in the liquid, a liquid supply port disposed in the liquid flow path and connected to a common liquid supply chamber for storing the liquid to be supplied to the liquid flow path, a plurality of bubble generating means, disposed in the liquid flow path, for generating the bubble in the liquid, and a plate-like movable member disposed in the liquid flow path with the side of the discharge port supported as a free end at a gap of 10 &mgr;m or less with respect to the liquid supply port on the side of the liquid flow path, and provided with a projection area larger than an opening area of the liquid supply port. The discharge port is in a linear communication state with the bubble generating means, and by driving the bubble generating means for generating the bubble with a smallest volume among the plurality of bubble generating means, the movable member seals and substantially shuts off the liquid supply port, which can increase a discharge amount ratio of liquid droplets, equalize liquid droplet discharge speeds, and raise a refill frequency after discharge.

A protective layer above the heat generating body is formed of an insulative compound deposited to be low density to high density in order. The protective layer is formed by depositing the insulative material in the electrothermal transducer element or the wiring electrode with elevating the temperature of the base body from low temperature to high temperature.
