A terminal including a main body part retained by a connector main body and a contact part connected to the upper end of the main body part and the free end of which can be connected to a counterpart terminal of a counterpart connector. The contact part including a connector base connected to the upper end of the main body part, a spring arm connected to the tip of the connector base and bent in a substantially s-shape, and a contact flexure part formed near the free end of the spring arm. The connector main body including a pair of side wall parts that extend in the longitudinal direction thereof and that retain the main body part. The connector base including an outward expanding part that bulges outward from the upper end of the main body part toward the connector main body and straddling the side wall parts without making contact with the side wall parts.

Connector and connector assembly

A terminal unit assembly in which a plurality of terminal units extending in a longitudinal direction are arranged in a lateral direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction, and a frame member including an assembly accommodating recess for accommodating the terminal unit assembly; wherein the terminal unit includes a longitudinally extending terminal holding part, a main body held by the terminal holding part, a plurality of terminals including contact parts protruding above the top face or below the bottom face of the terminal unit and contact arms connecting the main body to the contact parts, and a housing wall extending in the longitudinal direction; and the terminal holding part includes a plurality of laterally protruding protrusions, and at least one of the protrusions abuts against a housing wall of an adjacent terminal unit.

Socket

An electrical connector for a flat sheet-like cable includes an insulative housing with a plurality of terminals and an actuator. The actuator is moveable between a first insertion position and a second operational position, the first position permitting insertion of the cable into the connector and the second position configured such that the contact pads of the cable engage the contact portions of the terminals. The actuator has an abutting part formed on opposite ends thereof. A pair of generally planar securing members is provided at opposite ends of the housing. Each securing member includes a stop surface to define a depth to which the cable may be inserted, a restraining member that interacts with the abutting parts upon positioning the actuator in the second position to define a restraining surface to prevent removal of the cable, and a recess portion defined between the stop surface and the restraining surface.

Electrical connector for flat cable

An electrical connector is provided for terminating a flat electrical circuit. The connector includes a dielectric housing having an opening for receiving an end of the flat circuit. A plurality of signal terminals are mounted on the housing along the opening and include contact portions for engaging signal conductors on the flat circuit. At least one ground terminal is mounted on the housing and includes a contact portion for engaging a ground conductor on the flat circuit. An actuator is movably mounted on the housing for movement between an open position allowing the end of the flat circuit to be inserted into the opening and a closed position relatively biasing the flat circuit against the contact portions of the signal terminals. A guide member is movably mounted on the housing independent of the actuator and for movement between an open position allowing the end of the flat circuit to be inserted into the opening and a closed position relatively biasing the flat circuit against the contact portion of the ground terminal.
