A coating apparatus includes: a supply frame for supplying slurry into channels from one end of a honeycomb substrate; and a blower for evacuating a wind box. An annular resistive member is attached to the circumference of the opening of the wind box, and the honeycomb substrate is arranged, with a spacer placed on the resistive member. When the blower is operated and the slurry is supplied, the coat width of the slurry coated on the inner surfaces of the channels in an outer circumferential area is less than the coat width of the slurry coated on the inner surfaces of the channels in a center area.

Apparatus for coating catalyst slurry

Provided is an exhaust gas purification catalyst that combines reduction of pressure loss and enhancement of purification performance. This invention provides an exhaust gas purification catalyst comprising a wall-flow-type substrate and first and second catalytic layers. The first catalytic layer is provided to the interior of a partition wall, in contact with an entrance cell, from an exhaust inlet-side end in the running direction, having a length Lless than Lw. The second catalytic layer is provided to the interior of a partition wall, in contact with an exit cell, from an exhaust outlet-side end in the running direction, having a length Lless than Lw. An internal portion of partition wall in contact with entrance cell has a substrate-exposing segment near the exhaust outlet-side end.

Exhaust gas purification catalyst

The exhaust gas purification device includes: a substrate of wall flow structure having inlet cells, outlet cells and a porous partition wall; and a catalyst layer provided in at least part of internal pores of the partition wall and held on the surface of the internal pores. Exhaust gas purification device

A wall-flow-type exhaust gas purification catalyst with an oxygen storage material that has an increased OSC and exhibits its OSC without a compromise provides an exhaust gas purification catalyst having a wall-flow-type substrate, a first catalytic layer and a second catalytic layer. The first catalytic layer is provided to an internal portion of a partition wall in contact with an entrance cell. The second catalytic layer is provided to an internal portion of a partition wall in contact with an exit cell. Each of the first and second catalytic layers has an oxygen storage material. The ratio (D/D) of the coating density Dof the first catalytic layer to the coating density Dof the second catalytic layer is 1.1 to 1.8.

An exhaust gas purification catalyst capable of stably maintaining and exhibiting excellent catalytic performance includes a wall-flow-type substrate, a first catalytic layer and a second catalytic layer. The first catalytic layer is provided to an internal portion of a partition wall in contact with an entrance cell. The second catalytic layer is provided to an internal portion of a partition wall in contact with an exit cell. The ratio (D/D) of the coating density Dof the second catalytic layer to the coating density Dof the first catalytic layer is 1.01 to 1.4.

An exhaust gas purification device includes: a wall-flow-structured base material having input-side cells, output-side cells, and a porous partition wall; and a catalyst layer formed inside the partition wall contacting the input-side cells or the output-side cells. The catalyst layer is formed in a region extending from the surface of the partition wall and covering at least 90% of the thickness of the partition wall, and is held by the surfaces of the inside pores of the partition wall in the region. Further, the average filling ratios A, B, and C of the catalyst layer held by pores in respective pore size ranges satisfy a specific relationship.

The exhaust gas purification device according to the present invention includes a substrate of wall flow structure having a porous partition wall, and a catalyst layer held in internal pores of the partition wall. The catalyst layer contains, as a carrier, an OSC material having oxygen storage capacity. In the thickness direction of the partition wall, the porosity of the internal pores in inlet regionsis 25% or higher, and an average occupation ratio of the catalyst layer held in the internal pores is 75% or lower.

A nozzle is configured to discharge a fluid containing a raw material of a catalytic layer to a substrate having first and second end faces and provided with holes each extending from the first end face to the second end face. The nozzle is provided with discharge ports each discharging the fluid toward the first end face of the substrate.
