Display device

A semi-transmissive reflection sheet is provided, including a first optical shape layer including unit optical shapes, and a second optical shape layer laminated on the first optical shape layer from a side of a surface formed by the unit optical shapes. The unit optical shape has a first surface that is inclined with respect to a light emergent side surface of the second optical shape layer. The light emergent side surface is opposed to the first optical shape layer. The unit optical shape also has a second surface that is not parallel to the light emergent side surface. A reflection layer that reflects at least a part of image light traveling in the semi-transmissive reflection sheet is provided on the first surface.

Semi-transmissive reflection sheet, light guide plate and display device

A light guide plate has a light exit surface, a back surface opposed to the light exit surface, and a light entrance surface consisting of at least part of a side surface. The light guide plate also has a body portion, and a light exit-side layer formed from an ionizing radiation curable resin. An optical module includes a polarizing plate and a light emitter disposed in a position facing the polarizing plate. The polarizing plate includes a polarizer and a protective film joined to the polarizer. The protective film has a light control function that changes the traveling direction of light. The light emitter is disposed in a position directly facing the protective film of the polarizing plate.

Optical module and display device

A light guide plate includes a body portion, first unit optical elements extending on the body portion in the light guide direction, and second unit optical elements disposed in between the first unit optical elements on the body portion. The width of each first unit optical element gradually decreases from that at the center to that at each end in the light guide direction. The ratio of the height to the width in each first unit optical element at the center is higher than the ratio of the height to the width in each second unit optical element.

Display device having enlarged viewing angle

An array-type display apparatus includes display devices each including a display section and a non-display area located around the display section, and transparent plates disposed on the viewer side. Each transparent plate has: a light exit-side deflection portion, provided in a position corresponding to the non-display area, for allowing at least part of light from the display section to exit the transparent plate in the front direction of the display section; and corner deflection portions, provided at the corners of the viewer-side surface, for allowing at least part of light that has passed through the transparent plate to exit it in the front direction. The width of the light exit-side deflection portion is larger than the width of the non-display area.

A surface light source device has a light emitting surface and includes a light guide plate having a light exit surface and a pair of light entrance surfaces. When the angular distribution of luminance in a plane parallel to a first direction is measured on the light emitting surface at varying positions along the first direction, the peak angle &#x3b8;c in the angular distribution of luminance at a center position Pc in the first direction lies between the peak angle &#x3b8;a in the angular distribution of luminance at an end position on one side in the first direction and the peak angle &#x3b8;b in the angular distribution of luminance at an end position on the other side in the first direction.

Surface light source device, liquid crystal display device and optical member

A light guide plate shaped substantially like a plate includes a light incident surface, a light exit surface and a reflective surface, which is opposite to the light exit surface, configured to reflect light toward the light exit surface. A plurality of optical units is arranged along the reflective surface in a direction orthogonal to the light incident surface. Each optical unit is shaped substantially like a quadratic prism that is convex toward the reflective surface and has a top surface and two slopes being formed opposite to each other with respect to the top surface. A dimension of the top surface is constant in a direction of arrangement of the optical units and an interval between adjacent optical units becomes greater as the adjacent optical units lie further away from the light incident surface in the direction of arrangement of the optical units.
