An object of the present invention is to provide a cyclohexene oxide compound that gives a cured resin having a low refractive index and excellent transparency, curability, mold release properties, and mechanical properties, and that can be used as a component of an actinic radiation curing composition and/or heat curing composition. The present invention is a cyclohexene oxide compound having a cyclohexyl group or a long-chain alkyl group, represented by Formula (1) below (in Formula (1), A denotes a cyclohexyl group, Formula (2) below, or an optionally branched alkyl group having 8 to 16 carbons) (in Formula (2), Rdenotes a hydrogen atom or an optionally branched alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbons and Rdenotes a hydrogen atom or an optionally branched alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbons).

A radiation curable composition is provided which includes a polyorganosiloxane containing at least two ring-opening polymerizable cyclic ether groups in the molecule and having 10 to 1,000 silicon atoms as a radiation reactive polymer; a monofunctional oxetane monomer containing in the molecule one oxetanyl group and a straight- or branched-chain alkyl group having 6 to 18 carbons as a diluent; and a cationic polymerization initiator. There is also provided a process for producing a separator by coating a surface of a substrate with the above radiation curable composition and then curing the composition by exposure to radiation. A separator obtained by the above process is also provided.

Compound having oxetanyl group, process for producing same, and curing

Active energy beam-curable compositions which comprise (1) at least one compound having one oxetane ring and one hydroxyl group in the molecule, (2) at least one compound having one or more oxirane rings in the molecule and (3) at least one compound which initiates cathionic polymerization by irradiation of active energy beams, are provided. The compositions can be rapidly cured by irradiation of active energy beams, such as ultraviolet rays and electron beams, to give excellent adhesion to basic materials.

Novel 3-substituted oxetane monomers for photoinitiated cationic polymerization, compositions for polymerization containing these oxetanes, processes for polymerizing the monomers, and polymers produced thereby are disclosed. A class of oxetane monomers have the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 6 carbons, fluorine, fluoroalkyl of 1 to 6 carbons, allyl, aryl, furan or thiophene; R.sup.2 is a polyvalent radical chosen from the group consisting of linear or branched alkylene, linear or branched poly(alkyleneoxy), xylylene, and silicones; Z is oxygen or sulfur; and m is 2, 3 or 4.
