A sample analysis substrate in which transfer of a liquid is effected through rotational motions, including: a substrate having a rotation axis; a first retention chamber being located in the substrate and retaining a diluent; a measurement chamber being located in the substrate; at least one reagent; a reagent chamber being located in the substrate and having the at least one reagent disposed therein, the reagent chamber being connected to the measurement chamber; and a first diluent path being located in the substrate, and connecting the first retention chamber and the measurement chamber or reagent chamber.

Substrate for sample analysis, sample analysis device, sample analysis system, and method for controlling sample analysis device

An analyzing device having a microchannel structure includes a sample inlet and a guide section extending from the sample inlet toward an axial center. The analyzing device further includes a first cavity connected to the guide section and configured to measure a certain amount of a sample liquid, and a receiving cavity located adjacent to the first cavity and receiving the sample liquid. The analyzing device further includes a liquid reservoir formed between the sample inlet and the guide section and temporarily holds the sample liquid before being suctioned into the guide section. The sample liquid temporarily held in the liquid reservoir is transferred from the liquid reservoir to the guide section and the first cavity by a capillary force and transferred to the receiving cavity by a centrifugal force caused by rotating the analyzing device about the axial center.

Analyzing device having an inlet with a liquid reservoir

An analyzing device includes a rotation axis, and a separating cavity having first, second and third sidewalls. The first sidewall connects the second and the third sidewalls, and the second sidewall extends from a position connecting the first sidewall and the second sidewall toward the rotation axis. The third sidewall has a first end and a second end, with the first end located closer to the rotation axis than the second end. The analyzing device further includes a measurement channel configured to allow a sample liquid to be filled therein by a capillary force and having a capacity of a first predetermined amount.

A flash discharge tube includes tungsten pins configuring a pair of discharge electrodes, and an envelope. The envelope includes a central region, serving as an alkali-free region, which is configured with an alkali-free glass except for quartz glass. The central region becomes in a high temperature state during a firing operation of the flash discharge tube. The central region is smaller than a maximum region enclosing a gas-tight space formed by hermetically sealing the pair of the discharge electrodes and is not smaller than a minimum region enclosing an arc-discharge space formed between the tungsten pins of the pair of the discharge electrodes. The alkali-free region contains either no alkali metal component or not larger than a predetermined amount of an alkali metal component. Then, a trigger electrode is disposed in the alkali-free region. This provides the flash discharge tube featuring a stable short-interval continuous-firing operation.

Analysis device and method using the same

An analyzing device mixes a sample liquid with a reagent by rotation of the analyzing device about a rotation center to generate a centrifugal force. A measurement cell is formed so as to extend in a direction along which the centrifugal force is applied, and a capillary area to which the sample liquid is sucked by a capillary force is formed on one of the side walls of the measurement cell, the side walls being arranged in a rotational direction. The capillary area extends from the outer periphery position to the inner periphery of the measurement cell, thereby reducing the size of the analyzing device. Further, the sample liquid in the measurement cell is sucked to the capillary area by slowing or stopping a rotation, and then the rotation is accelerated to return the sample liquid in the capillary area to the measurement cell.

Analyzing apparatus and method that use centrifugal force

An analysis device includes a separation chamber, a holding channel, a mixing chamber connected to the holding channel, an overflow channel connected between the holding channel and the separation chamber, a sample overflow chamber into which a sample solution remaining in the separation chamber is discharged, and a joint channel connecting the separation chamber and the sample overflow chamber. After the separated solution component fills the overflow channel with priority, a separated solid component is transferred to the holding channel via the overflow channel, and a predetermined amount of the solid component is measured. The solid component in the holding channel is transferred to the mixing chamber by a centrifugal force, and simultaneously, the sample solution remaining in the separation chamber is discharged to the sample overflow chamber by the siphon effect of the joint channel.
