Printing light beams from a printing head that is driven based on image data are used for recording a latent image in a predetermined exposure area on an instant film. The instant film is exposed through an exposure opening formed through a case of a film pack. The printing head projects the printing light beams linearly along a main scan direction while moving in a sub scan direction perpendicular to the main scan direction. An illumination range of the printing light beams is determined to be wider than the exposure area in the main and sub scan directions, in consideration of clearances between the case and the instant film. So the entire exposure area is exposed even where the instant film deviates inside the case. A light-shielding housing for covering up a moving range of the printing head in a light-tight fashion is formed integrally with a pack loading chamber for loading the film pack.

Instant printer, printing method for using the same, combination printer/electronic still camera system

When an image frame and the kind of ID photograph to make are selected by operating a console, a system controller discriminates a human subject of the image frame from its background, and process image data of the image frame according to the selected kind of ID photograph by deleting any other subject contained in the background and changing the size and position of the human subject such that the human subject is printed on an instant film in a size at a position designated for the selected kind of ID photograph. In accordance with the image data processed by the system controller, an LCD unit is driven to display an image containing the human subject with a blanked background. The image displayed on the LCD unit is observed through a monitoring screen. Upon a printing command, the image displayed on the LCD unit is projected onto the instant film to print that image on the instant film.

Portable printer and camera

Image data obtained through an image sensor is written in a memory. When printing an image, a printing head is driven in accordance with the image data read out from the memory in a line sequential fashion, and is synchronously moved in a sub scan direction, thereby exposing the instant film line by line. The image appears on the exposed instant film as a developing solution is developed by developing rollers while the instant film is advanced out through the developing rollers. Alternatively, the printing head is driven synchronously with the instant film being advanced. Thereby an image is printed at one sub scanning without the need for moving the printing head. The printing head is provided with an array of three color light emitting elements, and three color light beams are simultaneously projected onto the instant film. The electronic still camera is automatically set in an imaging mode when a power switch is turned on, and is switched to a display mode or a print mode as soon as a display mode key or a print mode key is operated. After being switched to the display mode, the electronic still camera is quickly switched to the imaging mode if only a shutter release button is operated.

Electronic still camera, instant printer and instant film

A photographic camera changeable between a normal photographic mode in which an almost entire area of an exposure frame of a photographic film is exposed with an intention of making a print from the exposure frame with a normal printing magnification and a pseudo magnified photographic mode in which a specific partial area of an exposure frame of a photographic film is exposed with an intention of making a print from the exposure frame with a larger printing magnification than the normal printing magnification and able to record trimming-data of an exposure frame exposed in the pseudo magnified photographic mode on the photographic film and is intended to be used in printing process comprises a distance measuring device having a measurement range greater than a focusing range of the taking lens, a lens setting mechanism for setting the taking lens in fixed positions including positions for the closest focussing distance and for infinity in accordance with camera-to-subject distance measured by the distance measuring device, and a control unit for setting the taking lens in the position for the closest focussing distance when exposure is made in the pseudo magnified photographic mode for a subject located between the closest focussing distance and the extreme end distance of the measurement range of the distance measuring device.

Photographic camera

A zoom camera with a pseudo zooming function for assigning a frame a pseudo zoom ratio by which a printing area and a print magnification of the frame are modified to obtain a photo print that looks like being photographed at a virtual focal length that is equal to a multiplication product of the pseudo zoom ratio and an actual focal length of a taking lens used for photographing the frame. A virtual focal length is determined in accordance with operating direction and amount of a manual zooming operation member. A viewfinder is controlled in correspondence with the virtual focal length, to show a photographic field to be contained in a photo print as photographed at the virtual focal length. In accordance with a predetermined relationship between virtual focal length and actual focal length and pseudo zoom ratio, actual focal length of the taking lens is changed depending upon the virtual focal length, and a pseudo zoom ratio is decided to each frame depending upon the virtual focal length determined at the photography of that frame. The pseudo zoom ratio is recorded in association with the photographed frame.

A camera system for taking i.d. (identification) pictures includes a camera body having a pair of taking lenses, to which one of a plurality of film holders of different film formats is removably attachable from the rear side of the camera body, depending on what film format is suitable for the size of photographs to be taken. A deflection unit deflecting the optical axes of the taking lenses, or a conversion lens unit changing the magnification of the taking lenses as well as deflecting the optical axes of the taking lenses is removably attachable to the front of the taking lenses, depending on the size of the photographs to be taken.
