The color reproduction correction circuit which corrects the color distortion caused when color signals using the first combination of the three primary colors are reproduced in a color display of the second combination of the different primary color sources has been disclosed, wherein: a provided color correction circuit generates the mixed color signal by multiplying the color signal in question by the specified coefficients and adding the mixed color signal to other color signals; the mixed colors in the second combination are used as primary color light sources in the second combination; the specified coefficients are determined so that these mixed color light sources are made close to the coordinates of the primary color light sources of the first combination; and the luminescent chromaticity values of the three primary colors are corrected so that the chromaticity values of the device match those specified by the signal system.

Color reproduction correction circuit for color representation and a color display

A color image display apparatus which supplies red, green, and blue color video signals to respective red, green, and blue light emitting cells and performs color image display. Assuming that time response characteristics of light emission by red, green, and blue light emitting cells have respective values TR, TG, and TB, and &verbar;X&verbar; represents an absolute value of X, then &verbar;TR-TG&verbar;<&verbar;TR-TB&verbar; and &verbar;TR-TG&verbar;<&verbar;TG-TB&verbar; are satisfied. A front color fringe occurring at a front edge of a moving white rectangular pattern displayed on the color image display apparatus is blue and a rear color fringe occurring at a rear edge of the moving white rectangular pattern displayed on the color image display apparatus is yellow, thereby causing the front color fringe and the rear color fringe to be inconspicuous.

Color image display apparatus and method

A color image display apparatus which supplies red, green and blue color video signals to respective red, green and blue light emitting cells and performs color image display. Assuming that time response characteristics of light emission by red, green and blue light emitting cells have respective values TR, TG and TB, and &verbar;X&verbar; represents absolute value of X, then, &verbar;TR&minus;TG&verbar;<&verbar;TR&minus;TB &verbar; and &verbar;TR&minus;TG&verbar;<&verbar;TG&minus;TB&verbar; are satisfied.

A display apparatus uses a sub field which illuminates addressed pixels of a display unit to display an image. The display apparatus includes an image signal processing circuit which performs sub field conversion processing on an input image signal, a computational processing circuit which arranges address data of at least one lower sub field of an image displayed on the display unit identical in plural lines, and a drive circuit which addresses and illuminates pixels of the display unit based on the outputs of the input signal processing circuit and the computational processing circuit. An image corresponding to the input image signal is displayed by driving the display unit with the drive circuit when the computational processing circuit performs addressing of the at least one lower sub field simultaneously in plural lines and address periods which select the illuminated pixels of said display unit are shortened.

Display apparatus

This specification and drawings disclose a display technology which displays an image by illuminating pixels of a display unit. The apparatus comprises an image signal processing circuit which processes an input image signal, a control circuit which controls display resolution information relating to the image displayed on the display unit, and a drive circuit which drives the display unit based on the output of an input signal processing circuit and the control circuit. The display resolution information is limited by the control circuit, and an image corresponding to an input image signal is displayed on the display unit when a time during which illuminated pixels are selected on the display unit, is shortened.

The present specification and drawings disclose a technique to display image on the display panel using subfield. Particularly, it is disclosed that the technique for conducting the reset operation by impressing, to the electrode of cells, a plurality of reset pulses per one subfield in the subfield period for the reset operation and then conducting the address operation for selecting cells for display discharge. Further, it is disclosed that the display technique for causing the cells of display panel to conduct display discharge for image display through the reset operation and address operation. Namely, it is the technique for impressing the auxiliary pulse to the electrode of cells after impression of reset pulse for reset operation to form charges in inverse voltage to the scan pulse during the address operation and then conducting the address operation for selecting the cells for display discharge.

Display panel driving method and discharge type display apparatus

A plasma display panel driving system and method for a display panel having a first common electrode and first independent electrodes arranged at a back plate side, a second common electrode and second independent electrodes arranged at a face plate side, an inner partition positioned between the first common and independent electrodes at the back plate side and the second common and independent electrodes at the face plate side and having an aperture therein connecting a space at the back plate side and a space at the face plate side, and a fluorescent layer arranged in the space at the face plate side. The driving system and method includes a driver for driving the first and second independent and common electrodes through a full writing period, a front surface erasing period, a writing period, and a discharge sustaining period, including supplying a first full writing pulse to the first common electrode at the back plate side and a second full writing pulse having a polarity which is opposite to the polarity of the first full writing pulse to the first independent electrodes at the back plate side for causing discharge between the first common and independent electrodes in the full writing period.

Plasma display panel driving system and method

A display apparatus for displaying an image having gradation represented by subfields. The display apparatus includes a display panel, a circuit for outputting information in which a plurality of subfields in one field period is arranged so as to have first plural array portions where allotted light emitting weights increase gradually and second plural array portions where allotted light emitting weights decrease gradually, and a driver for forming a drive signal based on the information and for outputting the drive signal to the display panel.

Display apparatus for displaying an image having gradation

A display apparatus and display method are provided for a display panel having pixels arranged in a matrix form for displaying an image on a effective display area. Horizontal electrodes and vertical electrodes in the display panel are scanned for selectively illuminating said pixels by using a time sharing drive method in which one field period is divided into plural sub-fields weighted according to a sustaining period. As a result, an effective display area is divided into plural areas, no scanning for selecting a light emitting pixel is executed in a non-display area, and the number of sub-fields is increased in an area in which display in multiple gradations is required in a display area to obtain sufficient gradation. Instead of increasing the number of the sub-fields, the total sustaining period per one field is increased to obtain sufficient brightness. According to a feature of the invention, another area is provided in which the number of sub-fields is limited to the required minimum in which display in multiple gradations is not required. According to other feature of the invention, another area having few sub-fields is prepared instead of providing the non-display area.

Display apparatus and display method thereof

In a color image display apparatus, assuming that time response characteristics of light emission by red, green and blue light emitting cells have values TR, TG and TB, the difference between the values TR and TG is less than that between the values TR and TB and that between the values TG and TB. The apparatus has a subfield arrangement including a portion where a light emitting weight gradually decreases and a portion where the light emitting weight gradually increases, or a subfield arrangement to obtain a plurality of light emission peaks in one field.

A plasma display panel for plasma display system provides excellent optical characteristics, including a color purity, contrast, and luminance, of a plasma display system. Barrier ribs forming a cell has wavelength-selective reflective filters for reflecting only a light of wavelength needed for display and absorbing the other lights coated thereon. The wavelength-selective reflective filters have phosphors coated thereon. A color filter is inserted between a first front panel and second front glass panel for feeding out the light in a sandwich state.

Plasma display system

A plasma display apparatus is disclosed, in which a plurality of pixels are arranged in dot matrix, at least one first electrode specifies the addresses of the pixels, a set of electrodes including a second electrode and a third electrode are arranged in a plurality of pixels for generating a pixel display plasma, and a phosphor member arranged in a plurality of pixels for illuminating light due to the ultraviolet light generated from the pixel display plasma. In the process of driving the plasma display apparatus, the pixel display plasma is erased by applying a plurality of erase pulses with progressively shorter pulse durations and intervals alternately between selected two of the first, second and third electrodes.

Plasma display apparatus and method of driving the same

A gas discharge display panel which provides sufficient contrast and good accuracy and is high in yield. When a voltage is applied to auxiliary discharge electrodes, auxiliary discharge occurs in an auxiliary discharge space and excited charged particles communicate with a main discharge space through a priming path made in a discharge space separation bulkhead. In this state, when an alternating voltage is applied between bus electrodes on a front substrate, main discharge occurs in the main discharge space, causing Xe atoms in the sealed gas to generate ultraviolet rays, causing a phosphor to emit light. However, since the auxiliary discharge is shielded by a bulkhead and a barrier rib, the phosphor does not emit light when only auxiliary discharge occurs.
