A distance measurement device includes a light-emitting-unit that emits irradiation light toward an object; a light-receiving unit that receives reflected light from the object; a distance-calculation unit that calculates a distance to the object based on a transmission time of the reflected light received; a posture-adjustment mechanism that adjusts a posture of at least the light-receiving-unit; and a posture-controller that drives the posture-adjustment mechanism. The light-receiving unit is formed of a two-dimensional sensor in which a plurality of pixels are two-dimensionally arrayed, and the distance-calculation unit calculates two-dimensional distance data from received light data in each of the pixels of the two-dimensional sensor. The posture-controller controls the posture of the light-receiving unit via the posture-adjustment mechanism such that a direction of a pixel array of the two-dimensional sensor is inclined by a predetermined angle &#x3b8; with respect to a direction of a ridge of the object to receive the light.

Distance measurement device and distance measurement method

The reflection surface of a DMD is divided into a first area and a second area, causing the first area to display images while appropriately controlling the on and off states of the micromirrors within the second area on the basis of a prescribed control logic according to the on and off states of the micromirrors within the first area. Further, the DMD off-state light created in the first and second areas is caused to recurse to the DMD via a prescribed recycle optical system for the DMD off-state light, and only the second area in the reflection surface is intensively irradiated along a prescribed irradiation direction, thereby efficiently converting the DMD off-state light to the effective projection light.

An optical module having a high-moisture-proof package structure in which dew condensation does not occur is provided. An optical module includes optical components including a light source, a pedestal on which the optical components are mounted, a cover which is combined to the pedestal to seal the optical components, and an emitting window disposed in the cover to take light from the light source outside. The pedestal and the cover are sealed with an O ring and a liquid seal material such that a compression direction of the O ring and a compression direction of the liquid seal material are almost perpendicular to each other.

A scanning image display device is provided that can display high-quality images even with variation in environmental conditions at a place where the device is installed. The scanning image display device includes: a laser light source that emits laser light based on image information; a scanning mirror that scans the laser light emitted from the laser light source to project an image on a projection plane; a housing that holds the laser light source and the scanning mirror; and a container formed of a base and an outer cover that accommodates the housing and is internally sealed, wherein the outer cover has a thin-wall portion that is elastically deformed with variation in pressure within the container.

Scanning image display device

In a laser light source module, a light source disposed on a base with a temperature adjusting element therebetween is covered by an inner cover, and is hermetically sealed by an outer cover. A top plate of the inner cover divides the inside of the outer cover into upper and lower sections and covers the light source from above. Side plates cover the side portions of the light source. Partitioning grid plates are provided in a space between the top plate and the outer cover, the partitioning grid plates dividing the space into multiple spaces.

The optical module includes a protrusion and a thermally conductive member. The protrusion is formed on the outer circumference of the lateral surface of the housing. The thermally conductive member includes a first surface and a second surface. The first surface is thermally conductively connected to a surface of the reinforcement plate. The second surface is thermally conductively connected to the protrusion. The thermally conductive member has an inclined surface on the back side of the first surface. The inclined surface is formed along the first surface in such a manner that the thickness between the first surface and the inclined surface increases with a decrease in the distance to the second surface.

An optical pickup apparatus comprises a laser beam source to generate laser beam, and a laser driving circuit to drive the laser beam source. The laser driving circuit is connected to a flexible substrate and arranged in a groove or hole provided in the vicinity of that portion of an optical pickup housing, to which the laser beam source is fixed. The laser driving circuit is connected through a heat conduction member to an upper cover among upper and lower covers, the upper cover being close to the laser driving circuit. Thereby, heat generated from the laser driving circuit is conducted through the heat conduction member to the upper cover to be transferred outside the optical pickup apparatus while being scattered in an inplane direction of the upper cover.

An optical head and an apparatus using the optical head are shown. The optical head includes a light-emitting element, a first polarized light diverging element for transmitting the light beam of a first polarization direction and reflecting the light beam of a second polarization direction orthogonal to the first polarization direction, a second polarized light diverging element for transmitting or reflecting the light beam of the first polarization direction, a converging element for converging the light beam on an information recording medium, a reflection element for reflecting a first reflected light beam reflected on the information recording medium and reflected on or transmitted through the second polarized light diverging element, and a detection element for detecting a second reflected light beam reflected on the reflection element and transmitted through or reflected on the second polarized light diverging element.

Optical head and apparatus using the same

Provided is a storage controller capable of improving the access performance to the storage device by preventing an I/O access request to the storage device from being concentrated on certain I/O processors among a plurality of I/O processor, and causing the plurality of I/O processors to issue the I/O access request in a well balanced manner. With this storage control system, a plurality of stripe units are formed by striping the logical volume into a stripe size of an arbitrary storage capacity, and information regarding which I/O processor among the plurality of I/O processors will output the I/O request to which stripe unit among the plurality of stripe units is stored as the control information in the memory.
