The present invention relates to a radio wave-transmitting, wavelength-selective plate, which is characterized in that a layer composed of Ag fine particles is formed and that the central portions of the Ag fine particles contain an alloy (Ag alloy) formed of Ag and a metal which forms a homogeneous solid solution with Ag (hereinafter referred to as a homogeneous solid solution metal).

Radio wave-transmitting wavelength-selective plate and method for producing same

A frequency selective plate which is produced by coating an Ag layer dispersed with Ag particles on a transparent substrate. The Ag layer is formed by depositing an Ag continuous layer on the substrate and heating the Ag continuous layer to varying into Ag particles or by depositing an Ag continuous layer on the heated substrate. The frequency selective plate performs high transparency of radio waves and visible rays while sufficiently reflecting near-infrared rays of solar radiation.

Frequency selective plate and method for producing same

The invention relates to a frequency selective plate having a radio wave transparent property. This frequency selective plate includes (a) a transparent substrate; (b) a mixture layer formed on the transparent substrate, the mixture layer containing a mixture of a metal nitride and Ag; and (c) Ag particles formed on the mixture layer, the Ag particles being two-dimensionally distributed on the mixture layer and being separated from each other.

A vehicle window glass assembly comprises a window glass and a plurality of parallel, electric heating strips disposed on the window glass. The distance between adjacent two of the heating strips at least at portions thereof disposed in a central region of the window glass being in the range of 20 to 28 mm so that a quantity of heat generated by the heating strips per unit area can be smaller, i.e., 0.80 to 0.95 times of a reference electric power or a supply power for the heating strips can be 0.80 to 0.95 times of a reference electric power. The reference electric power is a power necessary for causing a surface temperature of a comparable window glass with comparable heating s trips to rise up to 90% of an equilibrium temperature in the range of 35 to 45.degree. C., in 5 to 10 minute's time after energizing of the comparable heating strips starts, under the condition where the distance between adjacent two of the comparable heating strips at portions thereof disposed in a central region of the comparable window glass is in the range of 29 to 33 mm, a room temperature is 20.degree. C., and windless.

The invention relates to a photocatalytic glass pane including (a) a glass substrate having (1) major surfaces that are substantially parallel with and opposed to each other and (2) an edge surface that connects the major surfaces together; (b) a photocatalytic film formed on at least one of the major surfaces of the glass substrate; and (c) a light source for exciting the photocatalytic film. A light from the light source enters the glass substrate from its edge surface and then is reflected totally within the glass pane. Another photocatalytic glass pane of the invention is substantially the same as the above, except that the light enters the glass substrate from its peripheral surface. It is optional to form a prism on the peripheral surface. Alternatively, the peripheral surface may be inclined such that the glass substrate is tapered at a position of the peripheral surface. With this, the light is totally reflected within the another glass pane, too. Thus, the photocatalytic glass panes of the invention are capable of substantially preventing light rays from escaping from the major surfaces thereof. With this, the photocatalytic film can effectively be excited or activated to oxidatively decompose organic contaminants thereon.

The matter of concern is the reflection of a radio wave such as a television broadcast wave from a laminated panel having a substrate low in reflectance for radio waves and a layer relatively high in reflectance for radio waves. The reflection is greatly reduced by dividing the reflective layer into a plurality of discontinuous segments by a series of relatively narrow slits such that the width of each segment in the direction parallel to the direction of the electric field of the radio wave is not greater than 1/3 of the wavelength of the radio wave. The invention is suitable for application to a heat reflecting glass with a heat reflecting film having a surface resistivity below about 500 .OMEGA./.quadrature., and in that case it is preferable that the width of each segment of the heat reflecting film is not greater than 1/20 of the wavelength.

Laminated panel with low reflectance for radio waves

The invention provides a heat insulating glass plate with a multilayer coating which is fairly low in transmittance for solar radiation and fairly high in transmittance for the visible light and also for radio waves. The multilayer coating is a lamination of transparent and dielectric layers and has three essential layers in which the middle layer is higher or lower in refractivity than the inner and outer layers. The coating may have five layers in which the second and fourth layers are higher or lower in refractivity than the remaining three layers. Each layer of the multilayer coating is a metal compound film deposited by sputtering or CVD. In a first embodiment of the three-layer coating each of the inner and outer layers is formed of SnO.sub.x, ZrO.sub.x, TaO.sub.x or AlN.sub.x having a refractive index of 1.8-2.1 and the middle layer is formed of TiO.sub.x having a refractive index of 2.2-2.5. In a second embodiment, each of the inner and outer layers is formed of SnO.sub.x, TiO.sub.x, ZrO.sub.x, TaO.sub.x, ZnO.sub.x, AlN.sub.x or SiN.sub.x having a refractive index of 1.8-2.5 and the middle layer is formed of SiO.sub.x, AlO.sub.x or Si.AlO.sub.x having a refractive index of 1.4-1.7. The heat insulating glass plates are useful as vehicle window glasses, and the second embodiment of the multilayer coating is very suitable for use in laminated glass.

Heat insulating glass with dielectric multilayer coating

The invention provides a heat reflecting glass plate with a multilayer coating on a transparent glass plate. The multilayer coating comprises a film of indium-tin oxide (ITO) of Al=N deposited on the glass surface, a heat reflective film of Ag or Cu deposited on the ITO or AlN film to a thickness of 40-200 .ANG., a metal Zn film deposited on the Ag or Cu film to a thickness of 20-200 .ANG. and an ITO or AlN film as the outermost layer. The multilayer coating may further comprise at least one set of the Ag or Cu film, metal Zn film and ITO or AlN film such that each Ag or Cu film overlies an ITO or AlN film and is overlaid with a metal Zn film and that the outermost layer is an ITO or AlN film. The multilayer coating is excellent in the fundamental characteristics as a heat reflecting and transparent coating and also in moisture resistance.
