A mounting section mounted on a rod side is provided at one end side of a protective cover in an axial direction. At least the other end side of the protective cover in the axial direction has reduced diameter parts and enlarged diameter parts, the reduced diameter parts and the enlarged diameter parts being alternately formed in the axial direction via small diameter parts in between. An end surface of the other end side of the protective cover is formed by a surface that is cut at a position. The end surface and an outer circumferential surface of a cylinder are situated at a position at which they are not in contact with each other in the radial direction in a state in which the small diameter part closest to the end surface comes into contact with the outer circumferential surface of the cylinder.

Cylinder device

An ammoxidation method in a fluidized-bed reactor, in which, when a starting material to be ammoxidized is ammoxidized by means of vapor-phase catalytic fluidized-bed reaction, the reaction is carried out in a fluidized-bed reactor to which an oxygen-containing gas is fed through feed openings provided at the bottom thereof, and a starting material to be ammoxidized is fed through feed openings provided above the feed openings for the oxygen-containing gas, the distance between the feed openings for the oxygen-containing gas and those for the starting material being from 30 to 250% of the height of a fluidized solid matter in a static state so as to form such a fluidized bed that the density of the fluidized solid matter at the feed openings for the starting material to be ammoxidized is in the range of 50 to 300 kg/m.sup.3 and that the gas velocity is 1 m/s or lower. By this method, the efficiency of contact between catalyst particles and a starting material, and the result of the reaction (the yield of a desired product) are improved.

Ammoxidation method in fluidized-bed reactor

A hydraulic shock absorber including a cylinder having a hydraulic fluid sealed therein, a reservoir connected to the cylinder so that a pressure is always transmitted between the cylinder and the reservoir and a self-pumping mechanism provided between the cylinder and an oil tank to effect feeding and discharge of the hydraulic fluid between the oil tank and the cylinder by extension and contraction of a piston rod, to thereby control a length of extension of the piston rod. The cylinder is connected to a pressure accumulating mechanism having a pressure accumulating tank and a switching valve mechanism. The switching valve mechanism is adapted to be switched to accumulate a pressure in the pressure accumulating tank or apply a pressure accumulated in the pressure accumulating tank to the cylinder. By applying the pressure in the pressure accumulating tank to the cylinder, the vehicle height can be increased before running of the vehicle, so that a satisfactorily large road clearance can be ensured before running of the vehicle.

Hydraulic shock absorber

A cylinder apparatus including a piston slidably fitted in a cylinder having a hydraulic fluid sealed therein. A piston rod is connected at one end thereof to the piston. The other end portion of the piston rod extends as far as the outside of the cylinder through a seal block fitted to an open end portion of the cylinder. The seal block retains a double seal including a rod seal that is in sliding contact with the piston rod and an O-ring that resiliently biases the rod seal toward the piston rod. The seal block is provided with a projection extending between the O-ring and the rod seal to bear a part of biasing force applied to the rod seal from the O-ring. The projection is provided at a side of the O-ring and rod seal which is remote from the piston.

Cylinder apparatus

A hydraulic damper of the adjustable damping force type includes a cylinder, a piston rod having an end portion inserted into the cylinder and a bore formed therein and extending in the axial direction thereof, a piston secured to one end portion of the piston rod and partitioning the interior of the cylinder into two chambers, a passage for communicating the two chambers through the bore, at least one pair of orifices disposed midway along the passage, an adjusting rod rotatably inserted into the bore and adapted to be operated from the side of the other end portion of the piston rod, and a shutter secured to the adjusting rod and having a pair of openings radially formed so as to open the at least one pair of orifices. The at least one pair of orifices and the pair of openings are arranged such that either one of the pair of orifices starts to open and close after the other.

Hydraulic damper of adjustable damping force type

A method for producing an aqueous silica sol is described, comprising admixing a fine silica powder having an ultimate particle size of 5 to 200 millimicrons with an aqueous medium at a pH not higher than 5 while applying ultrasonic vibrations having a frequency within the range of from 10 to 100 kilohertz to the aqueous medium to thereby disperse said silica powder in said aqueous medium and thus convert the mixture into an aqueous sol.

Method for producing aqueous, low-alkali metal, low-alumina silica sols

A process for producing an antimony-containing oxide catalyst supported on silica for use in a fluidized bed reaction is described, by the steps of preparing a slurry containing an antimony compound, a polyvalent metal compound, and silica sol as the essential ingredients, heat treating the slurry at a pH of 7 or less and at a temperature of 40.degree. C. or higher, and thereafter spray-drying the slurry and calcining the dried particles, wherein said silica sol has a multi-peak particle size distribution profile that is derived by using a mixture of silica sol A in an amount corresponding to form 10 to 90 wt % of the total silica in the catalyst and silica sol B in an amount corresponding to 90 to 10 wt % of the total silica in the catalyst, with silica sols A and B having different average particle sizes, provided that the relations 3&lt;da&lt;100 and 0.1&lt;da/db&lt;0.9 are satisfied by da (m.mu.), the average particle size of silica sol A, and db (m.mu.), the average particle size of silica sol B.

A process for producing an antimony-containing oxide catalyst with improved strength is described, by the steps of preparing a slurry containing an antimony compound, a polyvalent metal compound and a silica sol as the essential ingredients, adjusting the pH of the slurry to 7 or less, heat treating the slurry at a temperature of 40.degree. C. or higher, and thereafter drying the slurry and calcining the dried particles, wherein said slurry is irradiated with ultrasonic waves during the pH adjustment, or after the pH adjustment and before completion of the heat treatment.

Process for producing antimony-containing oxide catalyst with improved

A gas spring comprising a cylinder, a rod slidably extending from the cylinder, and a novel locking mechanism. The mechanism comprises first and second axially contiguous recesses in the circumference of the rod, a locking member normally located in the first recess and snappingly and rockingly movable between two recesses, and axially spaced first and second actuating members cooperating with the locking member. The first actuating member comprises an engaging portion and a releasing portion being circumferentially spaced therefrom. The releasing portion acts to displace the locking member to the second recess. The second actuating member comprises an engaging portion for locking the rod and also for displacing the locking member to the first recess, and axially and circumferentially inclined guide walls for circumferentially displacing the locking member thereby guiding the same between the releasing portion and engaging portions in response to the movement of the rod.
