The scroll gas compressor of the invention is so constructed that an enclosed container is partitioned by a fixed scroll member into a high pressure chamber and a low pressure chamber for gas-liquid separating intake refrigerant and storing it, the low pressure chamber being disposed at the lower portion and the high pressure chamber at the upper portion of enclosed container, the high pressure chamber disposing therein a drive unit related to a scroll compression mechanism and a lubricating oil sump, and the fixed scroll member serving also as part of the bottom of the lubricating oil sump, thereby providing that is small-sized, wide in an operational speed range, and superior in durability, and that prevents absorption of heat and noise propagation from the low pressure chamber serving as both the gas-liquid separation chamber and the reservoir of fluid, thereby improving the compression efficiency and lowering noise.

The present invention provides a low-pressure scroll compressor for use in a refrigerating system of an air conditioning apparatus or the like. Lubricating oil is intermittently supplied to a compressor unit in proportional relation to the rotating number of the motor, avoiding an excessive or insufficient supply of a lubricating oil and realizing a proper supply of the lubricating oil even in high-speed rotation of the motor. Thus the compressor is highly reliable. Further, a screening plate is provided in the suction space of a compressor, so that the lubricating oil in the coolant or cooling medium can be effectively separated from the coolant, resulting in enhancement of collecting efficiency of the lubricating oil. Moreover, the screening plate is useful to prevent a hermetic terminal from being cooled by the returning coolant. Otherwise, dew condensation would occur on the hermetic terminal, and leakage or shortcircuiting would be caused, a vital obstacle to the safety of the compressor.

A scroll compressor for use as a refrigerant compressor in an air conditioner or as an air compressor. An orbiting scroll member of the compressor has a drive shaft integral therewith and received in a bore formed in an eccentric bearing which in turn is received in an elongated hole formed in an end surface of a crankshaft such that the eccentric bearing is slidable in the elongated hole. The elongated hole and the eccentric bearing are so sized that the orbiting scroll wrap and a cooperating stationary scroll wrap do not contact with each other. A constant minimum gap is left between both scroll wraps regardless of any change in the centrifugal force acting on the orbiting scroll member due to a change in the operation speed. In consequence, vibration and noise due to contact between both scroll wraps are remarkably reduced and the efficiency of the compressor is improved appreciably.

An electrically driven compressor has a closed vessel including upper and lower vessels, a compression mechanism disposed at the upper portion of the lower vessel to communicate, on its suction side, with the inside of the lower vessel and an electric motor disposed under the compression mechanism inside the lower vessel to electrically drive the compression mechanism. The compression mechanism includes a stationary impeller component having a stationary impeller, a rotary impeller component having a rotary impeller for engaging with the stationary impeller to define a plurality of spaces to be compressed between them, a crank shaft rotatably driving the rotary impeller component, a bearing component for supporting the crank shaft, a self-rotation restricting component for restricting the self-rotation of the rotary impeller component but allowing only its forced rotation, a thrust bearing for supporting the rotary impeller component axially biased to it, and a partition frame component interposed between the stationary impeller and bearing components. The partition frame component is interposed between the upper and lower vessels at their respective open ends so that both vessels may be completely sealed through the partition frame component by welding its entire outer periphery.

A control system for a compressor driven by a pole-changing motor comprises a pole changer for the motor, a contactor for stopping the motor for a predetermined time in case of the pole changing, and a switch responsive to the variation in a physical quantity which occurs in the compressor every time when the latter is stopped, whereby the motor is stopped in case of the pole changing and then is started again in response to the actuation of the switch. This control system is especially adapted for use in a pole-changing-motor-driven compressor used in a refrigeration cycle of an air conditioner.
