There is provided a controller for receiving input from a user, including: a plurality of input elements, each operating to receive respective operative input from a user, the respective operative input being processed and transmitted to an external apparatus for manipulating an application program during execution; a memory having a plurality of sets of profile data stored therein, each set of profile data includes a respective profile ID in association with respective location information indicative of where a respective one of the input elements is located on the controller; a communication unit operating to receive a user-selected one of the plurality of sets of profile data; and a control unit operating to control the controller based on the selected profile data set received from the communication unit.

There is provided a transmission system, a transmission method, and a transmission device that make it possible to inhibit deterioration in quality of transmission signals while reducing the number of times of compensation on transmission signals in a case where a plurality of devices is connected in a daisy chain. The transmission system includes a plurality of sub devices and a main device that are connected in a daisy chain. The main device includes a main connector connected to the first sub device of the plurality of sub devices, the main connector being configured to output transmission signals of a plurality of channels. The plurality of sub devices each includes a first sub connector connected to a preceding device, the first sub connector being configured to receive the transmission signals, a compensation unit disposed to correspond to a channel obtained as a result of thinning out, at predetermined intervals, channels other than a channel of an own device signal used by the sub device to which the compensation unit belongs, the compensation unit being configured to perform compensation on the transmission signals, and a second sub connector configured to shift channels of the transmission signals received from the preceding device other than the own device signal by the number of channels of the own device signal and output the transmission signals. The present technology is applicable to, for example, a multi-monitor system.

There is provided a light emitting element and an optical waveguide that propagates light from the light emitting element. For example, the optical waveguide is an optical fiber or a silicon optical waveguide. The light propagating through the optical waveguide is light having components of a fundamental mode and a first order mode, and the light propagates through the optical waveguide while having a light intensity distribution in which high intensity portions alternately appear in one direction and another direction opposite to the one direction with respect to the center of a core along the optical waveguide. A light intensity distribution at an output end surface of the optical waveguide is a light intensity distribution corresponding to an intermediate position between a first position where the high intensity portion is in the one direction and a second position where the high intensity portion is in the another direction. In a case of propagating the light having the components of the fundamental mode and the first order mode, it is possible to obtain favorable coupling efficiency regardless of a direction of an optical axis deviation, as in a case of propagating light having only the component of the fundamental mode. A cost is thus reduced by reducing accuracy of positional deviation.

The present disclosure relates to a ranging device and a ranging module that allow a light emitting element and a light receiving element to be integrated with a simple structure. A light emitting substrate having a light emitting element is connected to a circuit substrate through first bumps, and a light receiving substrate having a single light emitting element or light emitting elements that are two-dimensionally disposed is connected to the circuit substrate through second bumps. The optical axis of a lens, the optical axis of the light emitting element, and the center axis of the light receiving element are disposed on substantially the same axis. The present technique can be applied to a ranging device that carries out ranging, and so forth.

A light emission controlling apparatus, an operation device, a light emission controlling method and a program that facilitate understanding of identification information associated with the operation device are disclosed. The light emission controlling apparatus includes an identification information specification unit that specifies the identification information associated with the operation device. A specific light emission region specification unit specifies a specific light emission region that is part of a light emission region set to the operation device, the specific light emission region according to the identification information. A light emission controlling unit controls such that at least part of the light emission region emits light in such a manner that a color according to the identification information and the specific light emission region are recognizable.

Provided is a connector that includes an optical component and a movable member. The optical component emits light.
