A process for preparing a catalyst for polymerization or copolymerization of ethylene, which comprises reacting a silicone compound (I) of the formula R.sup.4.sub.a H.sub.b SiO.sub.(4-a-b)/2 or R.sup.5.sub.n Si(OH).sub.4-n or a condensate thereof and an organomagnesium compound (II) of the formula (MgR.sup.6.sub.2).sub.p.(R.sup.6 MgX).sub.q to obtain a product (A), reacting the product (A) with a titanium compound (III) of the formula Ti(OR.sup.2).sub.m X.sub.4-m and a silicone halide compound (IV) of the formula R.sup.1.sub.L SiX.sub.4-L to obtain a product (B), reacting the product (B) with an organoaluminum halide compound (V) of the formula R.sup.3.sub.c AlX.sub.3-c to obtain a solid component (C), and bringing the solid component (C) in contact with an organoaluminum compound (VI) of the formula R.sub.d AlY.sub.3-d.

Process for preparing a catalyst for polymerization or copolymerization

An electrically conductive composition comprising 100 parts by weight of a copper powder, from 2 to 100 parts by weight of a resin binder, and from 0.1 to 30 parts by weight of an additive agent, wherein the additive agent is at least one compound selected from the group consisting of .alpha.-ketols, aliphatic and aromatic thiols, thiodiarylamines, tall oils, rosins, rosin esters, higher fatty acid amides, o-aminophenols, 2,2'-dipyridyls, and 2,2'-diquinolyls.

Polymerization of ethylene or copolymerization of ethylene with other .alpha.-olefin is carried out in the presence of a specific catalyst system. The catalyst system is obtained by preparing a reaction product (A) of an organic aluminum compound (I) represented by the formula AlR.sub.n.sup.1 X.sub.3-n where R.sup.1 is hydrogen or an alkyl group having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, X is Cl or Br and n is a number satisfying 0&lt;n&lt;3, with a mixture of a straight chain aliphatic alcohol and a branched chain aliphatic alcohol or a cyclic alcohol, separately preparing a reaction product (B) of an organic magnesium compound with a hydropolysiloxane or a silicone compound in which organic groups and hydroxyl groups are bonded to silicon atoms, reacting the reaction product (A) with the reaction product (B) to produce a reaction product (C), reacting the reaction product (C) with a halogen-containing titanium or vanadium compound to obtain a solid product (D) and mixing the solid product (D) with an organic aluminum compound (II).

Ethylene or a mixture of ethylene and a small amount of another .alpha.-olefin or diene is polymerized in two successive steps under different hydrogen partial pressures by polymerizing 30 to 70 wt. % of the ethylene or ethylene mixture to be polymerized in the presence of hydrogen at a molar ratio of ethylene or ethylene mixture to hydrogen of 1:1-8 in the first step and polymerizing the residual ethylene or the ethylene mixture at a molar ratio of ethylene to hydrogen of 1:0-0.3 in the second step, in the presence of the specific catalyst system comprising an organoaluminum compound (C) and a specific solid catalytic component (B) obtained by reacting a titanium or vanadium halogen-containing compound with a reaction product (A) obtained by reacting a Grignard reagent with a hydropoly-siloxane having the formula ##EQU1## (R.sup.1 represents an alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkoxy, or aryloxy group as a monovalent organic group; a is 0,1 or 2; b is 1, 2 or 3; and a+b.ltoreq.3) or a silicon compound containing an organic group and hydroxyl group in the presence or absence of an aluminum-alkoxide, aluminum alkoxy-halide halide or a reaction product obtained by reacting the aluminum compound with water.
