An ethylene resin composition is provided which has excellent properties including adhesion properties, electrically insulating properties, transparency, moldability and process stability and can be produced without requiring any cross-linking procedure if necessary to improve productivity; and others. The ethylene resin composition contains a modified product produced by modifying an ethylene polymer (A) that meets all of the requirements a) to e) mentioned below with an ethylenically unsaturated silane compound (B). a) The density is 900 to 940 kg/m. b) The melting peak temperature is 90 to 125 &#xb0; C. as determined by DSC. c) The melt flow rate (MFR2) is 0.1 to 100 g/10 minutes as measured at 190 &#xb0; C. and a load of 2.16 kg in accordance with JIS K-6721. d) The Mw/Mn ratio is 1.2 to 3.5. e) The content of metal residues is 0.1 to 50 ppm.

The invention provides a frost-preventive composition which strongly defrosts and melts ice and which prevents frosting for a long period of time and which does not run or sag when applied to a wall surface or the like. The frost-preventive greasy composition of the invention contains (a) at least one species selected from among glycols, glycol ethers, polyalkylene glycols, polyalkylene glycol derivatives, glycerin, and glycerin derivatives, (b) at least one species selected from among soaps, urea compounds, silica gel microparticles, lecithin, and polysaccharides, (c) at least one metal salt selected from among carboxylic acid metal salts, nitric acid metal salts, phosphoric acid metal salts, metal chlorides, and metal bromides, and (d) at least one species selected from among sorbitan fatty acid esters, polyoxyalkylene sorbitan fatty acid esters, polyoxyalkylene alkyl ethers, castor oil, hydrogenated castor oil, polyoxyalkylene castor oils, and polyoxyalkylene hydrogenated castor oils, in specified proportions, respectively.

A solid-state laser apparatus is composed of a semiconductor laser device 17, a laser medium 13 for generating oscillated light, a non-linear optical device 12 for converting the oscillated light to non-linear light, a laser holder 17a and a base plate 19 for holding the semiconductor laser device 17, and a crystal holder 3 for holding the laser medium 13 and the non-linear optical device 12. There has been provided by the present invention a process for producing a single crystal of potassium niobate which comprises disposing a positive electrode directly or via a semi-insulating substance layer on one c-plane of a single crystal of potassium niobate and also a negative electrode via a semi-insulating substance layer on the other c-plane of the single crystal of potassium niobate, said positive and negative electrodes being disposed in mutually facing relationship, and applying voltage between the positive and negative electrodes so as to pole (convert to the single-domain state) the single crystal of potassium niobate, and which enables to pole the entire region of the single crystal of potassium niobate without quality deterioration.

A facsimile apparatus is provided which can enhance the operability and usefulness of portable image reading devices when transmitting documents and which allows effective utilization of the image reading device. The facsimile apparatus includes a main unit and a separable handscanner between which image signals and various control signals are transmitted using an optical communication technique. A document is scanned by a handscanner that generates signals representing the document image. The image signals are temporarily stored in an image memory and transmitted to the main unit when necessary. Depending on the hook state of the telephone, the main unit either transmits the received image signals to a remote station or records the image on recording paper. When the main unit receives image signals over a telephone network, the received image signals are transmitted to the handscanner for storage into the image memory when necessary. This is done for example, when the so-called memory reception mode is set or when a recording section in the main unit is in a non-normal state.

Facsimile apparatus

Image-forming light from a light source is projected to form a latent image with color information on a photosensitive sheet having a surface coated with microcapsules each containing a light-curable agent sensitive to light in a wavelength range corresponding to blue, green or red and a specified chromogenic agent which produces yellow, magenta or cyanic. An image transfer sheet with a surface coated with a developing agent having chromogenic effects on these encapsulated chromogenic agents is superposed on such a photosensitive sheet with a latent image formed thereon by selectively hardened microcapsules and these sheets are compressed together to rupture only those of the microcapsules which have not been hardened. The emission characteristics of the lamp used as the light source are such that the emission intensity is concentrated in wavelength ranges where the light-curable agents have peak photosensitivities.

An image forming apparatus includes an original document reader for respectively reading the each duplex face of the document from each side face; a means for filling-in the document images read respectively, with elements capable of being filled-in with laser heat through an electric-heat optical effect a device for optically reading each of the document images filled-in on the elements to focus the images on a photoelectric member; and a device for projecting the images onto a photosensitive member and to transfer them onto transfer paper, whereby both side faces of the original document are reproduced.
