A light diffusion plate is placed on an upper surface of an upper chamber window. A blasting process is applied to a lower surface of the light diffusion plate to provide the lower surface in the form of frosted glass. When the light diffusion plate is placed on the upper surface of the upper chamber window, the light diffusion plate and the upper chamber window do not closely adhere to each other. The frosted glass releases a mass of air entering between contact surfaces of the light diffusion plate and the upper chamber window to the outside even if the mass of air thermally expands during heat treatment. This restrains the occurrence of a phenomenon in which a thin layer of air is trapped between the light diffusion plate and the upper chamber window to prevent the sliding of the light diffusion plate resulting from the air layer.

A gas ring is attached to an upper portion of a chamber side portion as a side wall of a chamber. The gas ring is formed by overlapping an upper ring and a lower ring. A gap between the upper ring and the lower ring provides a flow path for processing gas. A labyrinthine resisting unit is formed in the flow path. The mass of the lower ring having an inner wall surface is increased to increase heat capacity. The lower ring is attached to the chamber side portion to be in surface contact with the chamber side portion, so that thermal conductivity from the lower ring to the chamber side portion has a large value, and the amount of heat accumulated in the lower ring is reduced. An increase in temperature of the lower ring at thermal processing is thereby suppressed to prevent discoloration of the gas ring.

A light diffusion plate made of quartz and provided with a plurality of grooves each having an inclined surface is placed on an upper chamber window so as to be in opposed relation to a central portion of a semiconductor wafer. Flashes of light emitted from flash lamps and passing by the side of the light diffusion plate impinge upon a peripheral portion of the semiconductor wafer. On the other hand, flashes of light emitted from the flash lamps and entering the light diffusion plate are refracted by the inclined surfaces of the plurality of grooves. Part of the light entering the light diffusion plate is diffused toward the peripheral portion of the semiconductor wafer. As a result, this increases the amount of light impinging upon the peripheral portion of the semiconductor wafer, and decreases the amount of light impinging upon the central portion of the semiconductor wafer. Thus, the in-plane uniformity of an illuminance distribution on the semiconductor wafer is increased.

A sealing structure is achieved by sandwiching an O ring between an upper chamber window and a chamber side portion and pressing a clamping ring against a top of a peripheral portion of the upper chamber window. Grooving is performed on a lower surface and an upper surface of the peripheral portion of the upper chamber window, to thereby form a plurality of grooves thereon. Flash light traveling into the peripheral portion of the upper chamber window during irradiation with flash light is reflected by the plurality of grooves and is prevented from traveling toward the O ring. This significantly reduces an amount of flash light reaching the O ring, and thus degradation of the O ring due to the irradiation with the flash light can be prevented.

Provided are a method of generating a low-capacity model capable of identifying an object with high accuracy, and creating an image database using the model, a processing program for executing the method, and a processing apparatus that executes the process. The method for compiling an image database that is used for a three-dimensional object recognition includes a step of extracting vectors as local descriptors from a plurality of images each image showing a three-dimensional object as seen from different viewpoints, a model creating step of evaluating the degree of contribution of each local descriptor to identification of the three-dimensional object, and creating a three-dimensional object model systematized to ensure approximate nearest neighbor search using the individual vectors which satisfy criteria, and a registration step of adding an object identifier to the created object model and registering the object model into an image database.
