Liquid crystal display device

In a high-resolution liquid crystal display device, measures against display unevenness caused by generation of a region where no alignment film is applied are provided. A liquid crystal display device includes a pixel formed between a scanning line and a video signal line. The pixel includes a TFT, a pixel electrode, and a contact hole connecting the TFT and the pixel electrode. The contact hole is formed in an insulation film formed between the pixel electrode and the TFT. Assuming that a horizontal pitch of the video signal line is ph and a horizontal diameter of the contact hole is dh, ph is 26 &#x3bc;m or less and s/ph is 0.73 or more where s=ph&#x2212;dh. A tapered angle of a sidewall of the contact hole is 53 degrees or less. A thickness of an alignment film over the pixel electrode is 110 nm or more.

In order to prevent protruded parts formed on an oriented film print pattern of a printing plate for flexographic printing from being lost, a linear bank is formed on the periphery of one side of the oriented film print pattern where wiping work is started. The bank prevents the protruded part in the oriented film print pattern from being lost by the wiping work. The protruded parts are formed in a matrix in order to retain an oriented film liquid in the oriented film print pattern. Thickness irregularity of the oriented film due to presence of the bank is reduced by making the diameters of the protruded parts smaller in a peripheral region than in a central region of the oriented film print pattern and forming a space between the peripheral-side protruded parts and the bank.

A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate and a second substrate which are disposed to face each other with liquid crystal interposed therebetween and a sealing material which is disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate to seal the liquid crystal, wherein a side surface of the liquid crystal display device has a cut surface, and a first resin layer which is formed along the sealing material and has a height less than a gap between the first substrate and the second substrate in a display region and the sealing material are exposed at the cut surface.

In an liquid crystal display device which includes: an image display part having a plurality of pixels; and a sealing member which is formed between the first substrate and the second substrate while surrounding the image display part and seals the liquid crystal therein, the sealing member includes a liquid crystal filling port which is formed by cutting away a portion of the sealing member, an side-wall edge surface of the first substrate and a side-wall edge surface of the second substrate are made coplanar with a side-wall edge surface of the sealing member along the extending direction of the sealing member on at least one side of the first substrate and the second substrate where the liquid crystal filling port is formed, and the liquid crystal filling port is formed such that a width of the liquid crystal filling port is narrowed along the liquid-crystal filling direction.
