Water dispersible resin composition and process for producing the same

Disclosed is a coating composition curable at a low temperature, comprising (A) a hydroxyl-containing compound, (B) a metal chelate compound or a metal alcoholate compound and (C) a compound having an acid anhydride group. The composition further comprises a chelate-forming compound (D) and/or a tertiary amine (E).

Disclosed is a novel oxazolidine compound containing a titanium atom or a silicon atom. Disclosed is a curable composition which is superior in chemical resistance and weather resistance and appearance by the use of oxazolidine compounds, comprising (A) a compound having a carboxylic anhydride group, (B) an oxazolidine compound and (C) a polymer containing an alkoxysilyl group. An epoxy compound (D) may be added to the composition.

Novel composite film and preparation thereof

The present invention provides a curable composition which is cured at a relatively low temperature and, when cured, exhibits excellent physical properties. The curable composition comprises;

A metal chelate compound in which a chelate forming metal is coordinated with a ligand represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3, which are the same or different, represent a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, X represents --NR.sup.4 -- (wherein R.sup.4 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms), an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom, n is an integer of 1 to 3, and j is an integer of 1 to 3, and a coating composition containing the same.

Metal chelate compound and curable coating composition therefrom

A novel aqueous dispersion type resin composition obtained by the method comprising polymerizing at least one .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically unsaturated monomer in an aqueous medium containing a water soluble resin with an amphoionic group of the formula ##STR1## (in which R and Y are defined in the specification) and in the presence of an organic initiator, the solid weight ratio of said water soluble resin to said monomer being, 10:90 to 90:10. The aqueous coating composition based on said resin composition is excellent in storage stability, application characteristics and capable of resulting a coating with excellent film properties.

Aqueous dispersion type resin composition and an aqueous coating

An aqueous coating composition comprising (A) an aqueous medium, (B) at least one water soluble or dilutable resin which has a water tolerance of 4 or more and whose 1% by weight aqueous solution shows a surface tension of 51 dyne/cm or less, and (C) fine particles of resinous solution of water insoluble resin in a hydrophobic solvent, the particles being uniformly dispersed in the combination of said aqueous medium (A) and the water soluble or dilutable resin (B) and having a mean diameter of 1.mu. or less, which is characterized in that the absolute value of difference in solubility parameter (.vertline..DELTA.Sp.vertline.) between said resinous solution and said water soluble or dilutable resin is within a range of .vertline..DELTA.Sp.vertline.&lt;2. The present coating composition is excellent in storage stability and application characteristics, resulting a coating with excellent gloss and surface smoothness.

Aqueous coating composition containing fine particles of water insoluble

An aqueous coating composition which comprises at least one aqueous resin selected from polyester, alkyd, acrylic, acryl modified--polyester and acryl modified--alkyd resins, and at least one water--insoluble resinous particles obtained by the polymerization or copolymerization of .alpha., .beta.--ethylenically unsaturated monomers, which is characterized by that said resinous particles are composed of mixture of (A) group of particles having a mean grain diameter of 0.3.about.6.mu. and (B) group of particles having a mean grain diameter of 0.01.about.0.1.mu., in weight ratio of (A)/(B)=99.9/0.1.about.40/60 and that the solid weight ratio of said aqueous resin to water insoluble resinous particles is 99/1.about.15/85. The coating composition is well balanced in application characteristics and in film performance as gloss and surface smoothness and hence is quite useful as a top coat.

Aqueous coating composition

An aqueous coating composition which comprises (A) at least one aqueous resin selected from acryl, alkyd, polyester, acryl--modified alkyd and acryl-modified polyester resins, (B) at least one component selected from water-insoluble resinous particles having an average grain diameter of 0.01 to 0.1.mu., obtained by a polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated compound(s), and (C) optional additives, the weight ratio of said (A) to (B) (in solid) being 99:1.about.15:85. This aqueous paint is especially useful as a top-coat.
