A backrest includes: a backrest body against which a seated person leans a back thereof, a backrest support positioned behind and supporting the backrest body; and an armrest body provided outside in a width direction of the backrest body and supported by the backrest support so as to move up and down at a position separated from the backrest body. A chair includes the above-described backrest.

An armrest according to the present invention includes a support member () which is a support structure, and an armrest main body (), the armrest main body () includes a lower layer member () including an operation lever () which is supported by a support member () to be movable in a forward-and-rearward direction and is operated by a seated person, and an upper layer member () supported by the lower layer member () to be movable in right-and-left direction, and the upper layer member () covers the operation lever () at a base position in the right-and-left direction.

An armrest () and a chair () according to the present invention are provided with: an armrest body () which is a movable member including a placing surface for supporting a limb of a seated person, and which is supported by a support rod () from below so as to be movable in a horizontal direction; and a through-space (S,S) which is a guide portion indicating the position to be touched by the seated person when moving the armrest body ().

A pivot shaft () which is a first shaft member coupled to a supporting member, an inner cylinder () which is a second shaft member coupled to a supported member, and an outer cylinder () which is a third shaft member are disposed to be approximately coaxial with each other and disposed radially in multiple layers. The pivot shaft () and the inner cylinder () are coupled to each other through a first rubber-like elastic member (), and the inner cylinder () and the outer cylinder () are coupled to each other through a second rubber-like elastic member (). The total reaction force is increased by restricting the rotation of the outer cylinder () by means of an operating pin () which is a reaction force adjusting part and thereby adding a reaction force resulting from the second rubber-like elastic member () to a base reaction force resulting from the first rubber-like elastic member ().

A chair is provided in which a seat-receiving member is provided with outward flanges for regulating upward/downward displacement to support left and right lateral edges of a seat plate. Engaging grooves supported by the outward flanges are provided at the respective left and right lateral edges of the seat plate. Warpage allowable parts in which warpage deformation of the lateral edges is allowed without the upward displacement being regulated by the seat receiving member are provided in regions of the left and right lateral edges of the seat plate, in which the regions are located at a rear side from engagement parts between the engaging grooves and the outward flanges. With this constitution, it is possible to prevent the seat plate from being detached from the seat-receiving member while ensuring that, when an user is seated, the sides of the buttocks of the user are reliably held, and thus improve the seating stability of a seat body.

Chair

An armrest device for a chair includes a lower support rod that rises at a side of a chair seat and has a tubular upper end portion; and an upper support cylinder that has an armrest provided in an upper end thereof, is externally fitted to the lower support rod so as to be slidable in an up-down direction, and has a plurality of engaging portions therein. The armrest is made height-adjustable with respect to the lower support rod by disposing the locking member and a biasing member at an upper end portion of the lower support rod and providing the rotating rod inside the lower support rod.

A chair includes: a leg body; a backrest supporting body supported by the leg body; a backrest rear supporting member supported by the backrest supporting body; and a backrest that is supported by the backrest rear supporting member and supports the back of a user. The backrest has: a flexible upholstering material configured to receive the back of the user and is displaceable depending on the back; and a pair of vertical frame sections that are mounted on the upholstering material, have lower ends connected to the back rest rear section support section, and are separated in a width direction in which twisting deformation is allowed depending on a force applied from the upholstering material.

A stretching structure in which upholstery material can be installed in a frame body, enough deflection allowance of the upholstery material can be ensured. Upholstery material () is installed on the surface of a frame body () in a closed-loop shape, and is used as the seat or the backrest of a chair. A cross-sectional shape perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of each of the sections of the frame body () is provided with an upholstery material receiving section () having an engaging groove () which is open to the back surface side, and a U-shape section () having a recessed groove () which is open to the surface side inward more than the engaging groove (). The upholstery material () is wound from the surface of the frame body () to the back surface side along the outer peripheral surface, and the edge section is fitted in the engaging groove () and tied up, thereby installing the upholstery material () in such a manner as to cover the surface of the U-shape section ().

Stretching structure of chair upholstery material

A backrest device for a chair, in which a backboard is easily flexible without a reduction in its strength, thus making the chair comfortable to sit on. The lower ends of both right and left sides of the back frame are supported at both sides at the back of a leg body, and the flexible back board is formed on the inside of rear frames. A large number of openings are formed in the backboard so as to be close to each other in the top-bottom and left-right directions. Between openings adjacent to each other in the left-right direction, there is formed a connection section continuing in the top-bottom direction, and the dimension in the front-back direction of the connection section is made larger than the dimension in the left-right direction of the connection section.

Backrest device in a chair

A backrest device for a chair, capable of, without a reduction in its strength and rigidity, effectively bending backward so as to follow the shape of the back of a person seated on the chair, providing the person with excellent sitting comfort. In the backrest device, a back board is supported by a backrest frame, and the back board has a flexible back stopper on the inner side of a back frame. The thickness of a vertical intermediate section of the back stopper is gradually increased from both left and right sections of the intermediate section toward the center such that the thickness is less in both left and right sections and is maximum at the center.

Chair backrest device

An easily operable lock device for a movable member of a chair, the lock device being adapted such that a person sitting on the chair can select lock or unlock position by operating operation means with a load, such as the weight of the person, acting on the movable member and, when the load is removed after the selection of the lock or unlock position, lock or unlock operation is executed. A lock pin provided at a spring receiving member functioning as a movable member, is selectively engaged with and disengaged from engagement holes formed in a reinforcement plate functioning as a support member. The lock device has biasing means for biasing the lock pin toward the lock position when an operation member moved by the operation means is set at a lock reservation position and biasing the lock pin toward the unlock position when the operation member is set at an unlock reservation position.

Locking device for a movable member in a chair

An upholstered structure including an upholstery material for a chair or a backrest of a chair is proposed, which may achieve: reduced proportion of the appearance of the rear frame of the backrest over the appearance of the whole chair; more sophisticated design; reduced weight; reduced number of parts; and improved assemble-ability. In the chair having the backrest upholstered with the upholstery material over the front surface of the rear frame, the rear frame comprises a front frame to which the peripheral edge part of the upholstery material is fixed and an upper reinforcement frame rod. The laterally facing upper reinforcement frame rod is connected at its both ends to both ends of the laterally facing upper frame rod at the top of the front frame with the center part of the upper reinforcement frame rod separated backward from the upper frame rod.
