The present disclosure keeps a topcoat filmfrom having a dentin a portion of its surface corresponding to a pinholeof a resin molded product. A method of the present disclosure includes: applying an undercoat material to a resin molded productto form an undercoat film; applying a topcoat material to a surface of the undercoat filmto form a topcoat film; and thermally curing the topcoat film. A coating material that contains a base resin having a larger volume expansion coefficient than the resin molded productand a granular filler having a smaller volume expansion coefficient than the base resin and a number-average particle size of 2 μm or more to 12 μm or less is used as the undercoat material.

The purpose of the present invention is to obtain a method for forming an excellent multi-layer coating film of high chroma and brightness and a rich color. With the method, color mottling does not occur easily in the coating film and the design obtained is homogeneous even without strict control of variations in film thickness during coating. The method for forming the excellent multi-layer coating film comprises: forming a metallic base coating film on the surface of the object to be coated by applying a metallic base coating containing a shiny material; then forming a color base coating film by applying a color base coating; subsequently forming a clear coating film by applying a clear coating on the color base coating film; and heat-curing the metallic base coating film, the color base coating film and the clear coating film obtained. A double-structure coated object includes an outer plate portion configured to produce a target color by stacking a coating film of a first paint and a coating film of a second paint, and an inner plate portion on which a coating film of the second paint is formed. When the coating film is formed on the inner plate portion, and then the first paint and the second paint are sequentially applied to the outer plate portion, paint dust on the inner plate portion is prevented from causing viewers to feel something different about color. To achieve this, the ratio (1BC)/(1BC+2BC) of the spectral reflectance (1BC) of the color of the coating film made of the first paint to the spectral reflectance (1BC+2BC) of the target color is configured to fall within a predetermined range.
