A cutter blade for a lawn mower has an upper blade and a lower blade. The upper blade has an upper blade base and an upper outer end positioned above and further radially outward than the upper blade base. The lower blade has a lower blade base and a mowing section positioned below and further radially outward than the lower blade base. The upper blade base overlaps the lower blade base.

A lawnmower capable of being switched between a bagging mode and a mulching mode is disclosed. The lawnmower includes a shutter mechanism provided on an internal peripheral surface of a housing which opens downward for storing a cutting blade. The shutter mechanism is switched, by the operation of the shutter mechanism, between a bagging mode for delivering cut grass from the housing to a cut grass storage container and a mulching mode for discharging the cut grass out below the housing. The shutter mechanism has a kicker on a shutter body positioned in the interior of the housing. The kicker guides the cut grass to the bottom of the housing during the mulching mode.

The travel speed of the working machine is automatically controlled so that the working load is calculated from the driving condition of the internal combustion engine to ensure the working load to be appropriate. Thus excellent finish of the working is maintained and the operator is relieved from burden.

In a control system of a lawn mower having an internal combustion engine controlled to a desired engine speed by a throttle actuator, a blade connected to the engine to be driven to cut grass, an engine output is estimated based on a detected throttle position and the desired engine speed, and when the estimated engine output exceeds a prescribed value, the grass bag is determined to be full of cut grass. With this, a full grass bag can be detected and the operator informed without providing a dedicated sensor. In addition, a blade switch that inputs a drive instruction to drive the blade and a running switch that inputs a running instruction to propel the lawn mower are provided, and the desired engine speed is set to a first speed when neither the drive instruction nor the running instruction is inputted, but is changed immediately to a second speed, set higher than the first speed, when the drive instruction is inputted, or is changed to the second speed gradually, when the running instruction is inputted, whereby fuel efficiency and operability are improved.
