The invention provides an apparatus for use with containers,each in the form of a rectangular or square tube and having an open upper end and an outlet,in a top forming portion,of the container, for bonding a pour spout,to the container edge portion defining the outlet. The apparatus comprises a conveyor,for transporting the containers,so as to halt the containers successively at a bonding station, and a support,movable into contact with the outlet-defining edge portion of the container,as halted at the bonding station from inside the container for receiving the pressure of bonding. The support,is so disposed as to be movable into and out of the container,along an arc path and has a contact face,facing outwardly of the arc path.

For use in a liquid filling apparatus having a liquid channel extending from a liquid tank to a filling nozzle via a metering cylinder, an upper check valve disposed upstream from the metering cylinder and a lower check valve disposed downstream from the cylinder, a method of removing air from the interior of the liquid channel comprises the liquid feeding step of closing the lower check valve, opening the upper check valve and feeding the liquid to be filled from the liquid tank to the liquid channel to an upstream side of the lower check valve; the primary air removing step of closing the upper check valve, opening the lower check valve, and causing the liquid to flow from the upstream side of the lower check valve downstream from the lower check valve while allowing air at a downstream side of the lower check valve to flow in between the valves to replace the liquid at the upstream side of the lower check valve with the air at the downstream side of the lower check valve; and the secondary air removing step of closing the lower check valve, opening the upper check valve, causing the air to flow from between the valves to an upstream side of the upper check valve and discharging the air from the interior of the liquid channel through the liquid tank.

A high-speed liquid filling machine comprises a conveyor 11 for transporting containers C so as to stop the containers successively at a primary filling station S1 and at secondary filling station S2, a primary filling device 21 and a secondary filling device 22 arranged at the primary and secondary filling stations S1, S2 respectively, a supply device for supplying the same kind of liquid to be filled into the primary and secondary filling devices 21, 22, and a control device for controlling the amount to be filled in by the primary filling device 21 and the amount to be filled in by the secondary filling device 22 so that the combined amount to be filled in by the devices 21, 22 is equal to the capacity of each of the containers.

An apparatus for disinfecting containers comprises a disinfection chamber 12 surrounding a required section of a container transport path, partition means for dividing the interior of the disinfection chamber 12 into a preheating zone 35, an exposure zone 36 and a drying zone 37 as arranged downstream from an upstream side of the transport path, antiseptic supply means for supplying hydrogen peroxide gas or mist to the exposure zone 36, and means for supplying hot air to the preheating zone 35 and the drying zone 37.
