[Object] An object of the present invention is to provide a high-aspect-ratio plate-like alumina particle having low aggregability and high dispersibility and a method for producing the particle. [Solving Means] The above problem is solved by providing a plate-like alumina particle including a step of firing an aluminum compound in the presence of a shape-controlling agent and a molybdenum compound serving as a fluxing agent. The above problem is solved also by providing a method for producing a plate-like alumina particle, the method including a step in which the aluminum compound and the molybdenum compound react with each other to form aluminum molybdate and a step in which the aluminum molybdate is decomposed to obtain the plate-like alumina particle.

Plate-like alumina particle and a manufacturing method for the same

Provided is a metal oxide production apparatus that implements a flux evaporation method. The production apparatus includes a firing furnace configured to subject a metal compound to firing in the presence of flux, a cooling pipe connected to the firing furnace and configured to convert vaporized flux resulting from the firing into powder, and a recovery means configured to recover powdered flux converted in the cooling pipe. Furthermore, provided is a metal oxide production method comprising a step (1) of subjecting a metal compound to firing in the presence of flux and obtaining a metal oxide and vaporized flux, a step (2) of converting the vaporized flux into powder by cooling the vaporized flux, and a step (3) of recovering powdered flux resulting from the converting.

Provided is a surface-treated spinel particle (B) including a spinel particle (A) including a magnesium atom, an aluminum atom, and an oxygen atom and a surface treatment layer disposed at least a portion of the surface of the spinel particle (A). The surface treatment layer includes a surface-treating agent including an organic compound or a cured product of the surface-treating agent. The spinel particle (A) further includes molybdenum. The crystallite diameter of the [111] plane of the spinel particle (A) is 220 nm or more. Also provided are a method for producing the surface-treated spinel particle (B), a resin composition including the surface-treated spinel particle (B), and a molded article.

Alumina is generally used as an inorganic filler, while spinel, which is known to be lower in thermal conductivity than alumina, is used in applications such as gems, fluorescence emitters, catalyst carriers, adsorbents, photocatalysts and heat-resistant insulating materials, but not expected to be used as a thermally conductive inorganic filler. Thus, an object of the invention is to provide spinel particles having excellent thermal conductive properties. The invention relates to a spinel particle including magnesium, aluminum and oxygen atoms and molybdenum and having a [111] plane crystallite diameter of 220 nm or more.

An object of the present invention is to provide a high-aspect-ratio plate-like alumina particle having low aggregability and high dispersibility and a method for producing the particle. The above problem is solved by providing a plate-like alumina particle including a step of firing an aluminum compound in the presence of a shape-controlling agent and a molybdenum compound serving as a fluxing agent. Spinel has conventionally been used as mentioned above in applications, such as gems, catalyst carriers, adsorbents, photocatalysts, optical materials, and heat-resistant insulating materials, and is not expected to be used in an application of an inorganic filler having thermal conductive properties. Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide spinel particles having excellent thermal conductive properties. A spinel particle having spinel containing a magnesium atom, an aluminum atom, and an oxygen atom, and molybdenum being existed on the surface of and/or in the inside of the spinel, wherein the crystallite diameter of the spinel at the [311] plane is 100 nm or more.
