A water-soluble metalworking fluid contains: at least either one of (A) a block polyalkylene glycol represented by formula (1): HO(EO)&#x2014;(PO)-(EO)H, and (B) a polyalkylene glycol monoether represented by formula (2): RO(R'O)H; and (C) an alkanolamine fatty acid salt, in which EO represents &#x2014;CHCHO &#x2014; and PO represents &#x2014;CH(CH)CHO&#x2014; or &#x2014;CHCH(CH)O&#x2014;; each unit of (EO), (PO)and (EO)is block-bonded; a and c each is an integer of 1 to 30 and b is an integer of 5 to 100; R represents an alkyl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms and R&#x2032;O represents PO or EO; mole fraction of EO is less than 100%; and d is an integer of 1 or 50.

Water-soluble metal working fluid, and coolant for metal working

An aqueous detergent according to the invention contains substantially no polyalkylene glycol, but contains a salt of at least one of the following carboxylic acids A, B and C: A: an aliphatic monobasic carboxylic acid having a total carbon number of 9 or 10 and including a branched alkyl group; B: sebacic acid; and C: an aromatic monobasic carboxylic acid having a total carbon number of 11 to 13.

Aqueous cleaning agent comprising an alkanolamine salt of at least one carboxylic acid

To provide a water-soluble working fluid which less adversely affects the human body and the ecological system as compared with conventional water-soluble working fluids, which has high rotting resistance, and which provides excellent working performance. The water-soluble working fluid of the invention contains methyldicyclohexylamine.

Water-soluble processing oil agent

Water-based metalworking fluid contains: (A) alkanolamine represented by the following formula (1) and/or (B) alkanolamine represented by the following formula (2); and (C) 2-pyridylthio-1-oxide salt.  In the formula (1): each Rrepresents hydrogen or an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms; n represents 2 or 3; and plural Rmay be mutually the same or different on condition that not all Rrepresent hydrogen.  In the formula (2): Rrepresents an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms; and Zand Zeach represent an alkylene group having 2 to 8 carbon atoms.

Water-based metalworking fluid

Provided is a lubricant composition prepared by adding, to a base oil, (a) from 0.01 to 5% by mass, based on the composition, of a phosphate, (b) from 0.005 to 1% by mass of an amine salt of an acid phosphate and (c) from 0.01 to 1% by mass of a sulfur-containing extreme-pressure agent. The composition is favorable for non-zinc hydraulic oil, which has good oxidation resistance, sludge resistance and wear resistance and further has improved extreme pressure resistance and prolonged fatigue life.

Lubricant composition

Processes for the preparation of 3-alkoxyalkanols useful as solvents for coating materials, photoresists, or the like. Specifically, (1) a process which comprises reacting an &agr;,&bgr;-unsaturated aldehyde with an alcohol in the presence of an acidic catalyst and subjecting the obtained product to hydrolysis and hydrogenation successively; (2) a process which comprises subjecting a reaction mixture obtained by the reaction of an &agr;,&bgr;-unsaturated aldehyde with an alcohol and comprising the corresponding 1,1,3-trialkoxyalkane and 3-alkoxyalkanal to hydrolysis and hydrogenation at the same time; (3) a process which comprises recovering a 3-alkoxyalkanal through distillation as an azeotropic mixture thereof with water from a reaction solution obtained by the reaction of an alcohol with acid-containing acrolein or methacrolein prepared by the oxidation of propylene or isobutylene, and hydrogenating the recovered 3-alkoxyalkanal into the corresponding 3-alkoxyalkanol; and (4) a process which comprises bringing a gas produced by the oxidation of propylene or isobutylene into contact with an alcohol, conducting the reaction of the gas with the alcohol to form the corresponding 1,1,3-trialkoxyalkane, and subjecting it to hydrolysis and hydrogenation.

Precursors of 3-alkoxyalkanols and processes for the preparation of 3-alkoxyalkanols

Disclosed is a process for the production of carboxylic acids providing esters unlikely to be hydrolyzable, which comprises reacting a polyolefin containing an isobutylene unit at a rate of 60% by weight or higher with monoxide and water in the presence of a catalyst in an amount of sulfuric acid in the catalyst of 3 moles or more with respect to mole of C.dbd.C double bonds in the polyolefin and in amounts of carbon monoxide and water of at least a mole equivalent to the C.dbd.C double bonds in the polyolefin, said catalyst being a catalyst comprising a sulfuric acid aqueous solution in concentrations of 73% to 98% by weight and a catalyst comprising a sulfuric acid aqueous solution in concentrations of 73% to 98% by weight and phosphoric acid, each having an acid strength within a range from -6 to -9.2 or said catalyst comprising a sulfuric acid aqueous solution in concentrations of 73% to 98% by weight, phosphoric acid in concentrations of 70% by weight or less with respect to the combined quantity of the sulfuric acid aqueous solution and phosphoric acid, and a metal oxide in concentrations of 0.1% to 4% by weight with respect to the combined quantity of the sulfuric acid aqueous solution and phosphoric acid.
