A vehicle includes a friction brake, a regenerative brake, and an ECU. The ECU is configured to: (a) control a total braking force that is generated in the vehicle; (b) execute first brake control for controlling a braking force of the vehicle on the basis of the brake operation amount; (c) determine based on the brake operation amount whether the driver's brake operation is being carried out; (d) when the ECU determines that the driver's brake operation is not being carried out, execute second brake control for automatically controlling the braking force of the vehicle in response to a condition of the vehicle, other than the brake operation amount; and (e) when the second brake control is executed, reduce a proportion of a braking force of the regenerative brake within the total braking force as compared to when the first brake control is executed.

In a vehicle including an engine, an electrically heatable catalyst device (EHC), and a first motor generator that generates electric power in accordance with the engine's motive power with the vehicle in a substantially stopped state with a vehicular speed lower than a threshold vehicular speed, an ECU determines, based on an amount A by which an accelerator pedal is operated and a vehicular speed V, whether a large accelerator operation has been performed with the vehicle in the substantially stopped state. If the ECU determines that the large accelerator operation has been performed with the vehicle in the substantially stopped state, the ECU activates an energization timer, and before the energization timer reaches a reference energization period of time &#x3b1;, the ECU energizes the EHC, and once the energization timer has reached the reference energization period of time &#x3b1;, the ECU ceases energizing the EHC.

Vehicular control device and vehicular control method

In a vehicle capable of performing regenerative braking by a motor, when regenerative power is supplied to both of a battery and an electric heating catalyst device (EHC), and it is predicted that the battery is overcharged at the time of turning-off of EHC (a supply of power to the EHC is stopped), ECU temporarily delays turning-off of EHC. ECU determines whether or not a condition for turning off the EHC is met during the EHC turning-off delay. When the condition for turning off the EHC is met, the regenerative brake torque is lowered so that the regenerative power becomes less than the battery acceptable power, and the hydraulic brake torque is increased depending on lowering of the regenerative brake torque, and thereafter the EHC turning-off delay is cancelled.

In a vehicle including an EHC containing a catalyst base material and an insulator insulating the EHC from the outside, an ECU estimates a temperature of the catalyst base material and a temperature of the insulator immediately after a state of the vehicle is switched from a Ready-OFF state to a Ready-ON state, as a base material temperature for determination THcpost and an insulator temperature for determination THipost, respectively. Then, when base material temperature for determination THcpost is lower than a base material threshold temperature THcth and when insulator temperature for determination THipost is lower than an insulator threshold temperature THith, the ECU allows EHC power feed, and otherwise it does not allow but prohibits EHC power feed.

An exhaust purifying system includes: a catalytic device supplied with electric power from a power supply unit; a first connecting unit connecting one end of the catalytic device to a negative electrode node of the power supply unit; a second connecting unit connecting the other end of the catalytic device to a positive electrode node of the power supply unit; a leak detecting unit detecting leak from the power supply unit; and a control unit controlling opening and closing of each of the first and second connecting units. When leak is not detected by the leak detecting unit in a leak check state where one of the first and second connecting units is closed and the other is opened, the control unit closes the other and applies current through the catalytic device, and when leak is detected in the leak check state, the control unit does not apply the current through the catalytic device.

Exhaust purifying system for hybrid vehicle and control method therefor

In a hybrid vehicle, in order to stop an engine while a clutch is kept engaged and to transmit power from a motor to a drive shaft by changing a change speed state of a transmission when the power from a second motor is being transmitted to the drive shaft by the transmission, for example, a rotation speed of the first motor is adjusted so that the first motor can be connected to the drive shaft with the clutch disengaged while torque commands for both motors are set so that the power based on torque demand is outputted to the drive shaft, the power is transferred from the second motor to the first motor while both motors are connected to the drive shaft by the transmission, and the connection between the second motor and the drive shaft by the transmission is disconnected.

When a predetermined change speed state shift condition is satisfied while the transmission connects a carrier with a drive shaft, a hybrid vehicle performs a rotational speed adjustment process of conforming a rotational speed of a motor to a target rotational speed based on a gear ratio of the transmission and a rotational speed of the drive shaft, a connection a sun gear with the drive shaft by a gear train of the transmission corresponding to a target speed, a power transfer process of transferring power between the motors in a simultaneous engagement state to make the motors output power required in a post-change speed state corresponding to a target speed, and a disconnection the carrier from the drive shaft.

A hybrid vehicle includes an engine, motors configured to input and output power, a power distribution integration mechanism, and a transmission. The power distribution integration mechanism has a sun gear connected with one of the motors, a carrier connected with the other motor, and a ring gear connected with the engine. The transmission includes a first speed change mechanism and a second speed change mechanism. The first speed change mechanism has a first speed gear train and a third speed gear train arranged to connect the carrier of the power distribution integration mechanism with a driveshaft. The second speed change mechanism has a parallel shaft-type gear train that is not used alone to set the speed ratio.

In a 2-motor drive mode with connection of both motors with a driveshaft by means of a transmission, a hybrid vehicle specifies one of the motors as a main motor of preferentially outputting power. This arrangement ensures continuous output of a relatively large torque.

There is provided a hybrid vehicle which stops an engine in a state in which a drive source element connection by a clutch is released; a transmission is used to couple only one of the motors to a drive shaft; and one of the motors is caused to output power; at this time, in order to start the engine, a rotation speed of the other one of the motors which does not correspond to a current speed ratio and is not connected to the drive shaft is adjusted so as to enable the drive source element connection; and the clutch is connected as well as the engine is cranked by one of the motors.
