In a vehicle action simulation method according to the present invention, a behavior of an actual vehicle during travel is predicted, and an attitude of a tire and a rotational speed of a rotary drum are changed to reproduce a transient change in a tire attitude that occurs during the travel of the actual vehicle on the tire while the predicted behavior of the actual vehicle during travel is reflected, stress applied to the tire in contact with the rotary drum of a tire ground contact characteristic measuring portion is measured, tire ground contact characteristics are calculated, the behavior of the actual vehicle during travel is predicted while vehicle characteristics predicted from the tire ground contact characteristics are reflected, and the prediction, the reproduction, the measurement of stress, and the calculation are performed in parallel.

A tire contact state estimation method includes: an information acquisition step of acquiring information of the tire; a correlation strength calculation step of calculating a first correlation strength between the rotational velocity and the braking and driving force, and also calculating a second correlation strength between the slip angle and the generated lateral force; a change detection step of detecting whether the first correlation strength has increased or decreased by a first threshold or more with respect to a predetermined first reference value, and also detecting whether the second correlation strength has increased or decreased by a second threshold or more with respect to a predetermined second reference value; and an estimation step of estimating at least two of the following: a condition of a road surface in contact with the tire, a tire internal pressure state, and a tire abrasion state.

A stratified scavenging two-cycle engine, having excellent scavenging performance and a simple structure which can be manufactured at low cost, includes a cast cylinder block (2, 2a) containing a cylinder chamber (9) and two scavenging ports (14, 14, 14a, 14a), which are provided in opposite portions of the interior wall surface of the cylinder chamber (9). Each scavenging port (14, 14a) and the crank chamber (7) are connected via a scavenging flow passage (20) which includes a generally horizontally extending scavenging flow passage segment (22, 22a) and a generally vertically extending scavenging flow passage segment (21). Two recesses (23, 23, 23a, 23a) are provided in the outer surface of the cylinder block (2, 2a) with each recess being an outwardly directed extension of a respective horizontally extending scavenging flow passage segment. An air supply flow passage member (30, 30a) is attached to the cylinder block to cover a respective recess. Each scavenging flow passage (20) and an air supply flow passage (31) are connected through a check valve (32).

Stratified scavenging two-cycle engine and cylinder block therefor

A stratified scavenging two-cycle engine, which enables a reduction in size and an improvement in productivity, includes a carburetor (6), which is provided between an air cleaner (7) and a suction fitting (4), wherein a mixture flow passage (6B) and an air flow passage (6A) are formed in the carburetor at least generally in parallel with each other, an air control valve (6a) is disposed in the air flow passage in the carburetor, and a mixture control valve (6b) is disposed in the mixture flow passage in the carburetor so that the carburetor and the valves (6a and 6b) constitute a single unit. The suction fitting (4), which is provided between the carburetor (6) and the closest outer face of the cylinder block (2), is a single piece and contains an air flow passage (4a), which is fluidly connected to the air flow passage (6A) in the carburetor (6) and to scavenging ports (2a) in the cylinder block, and a mixture flow passage (4b), which is fluidly connected to the mixture flow passage (6B) in the carburetor (6) and to a chamber in a crankcase (3).

An image processing method and apparatus for detecting at least one region designated by at least one line of at least one closed loop on an original, wherein the original is scanned and an image formation is generated; the image information is processed for generating image data and region data which represent said at least one designated region; and the region data is processed for each scanning line. The processing of the region data comprises detecting a right end margin and a left end margin of the designated region for generating a marginal signal for the present scanning line corresponding to an interval from the right end margin to the left end margin; detecting a portion of the marginal signal continuous to a region signal for a preceding scanning line to generate a provisional region signal; detecting a portion of the provisional region signal which indicates an outside of the designated region for the present scanning line for generating an outside region signal for the present scanning line; detecting a region-designating signal for the present scanning line which is not continuous to the region signal for the preceding scanning line to generate a new region-designating signal for the present scanning line; and adding the new region-designating signal to, and for subtracting the outside region signal from, the provisional region signal to generate a region signal for the present scanning line.

Image processing method and apparatus

A portable engine has a fan cover fixed to a front surface of a crankcase to cover a fan and to guide upward a blown stream of air generated by the fan, and a cylinder cover disposed behind and in series with the fan cover to cover an engine cylinder and to guide the blown stream toward the engine cylinder. The portable engine has a partition plate formed integrally with said crankcase to cover a step formed between the fan cover and the cylinder cover, and an ignition coil is fixed to the partition plate. According to this arrangement, heat of the engine cylinder will not be directly transmitted to the ignition coil to cause deterioration of the function of the ignition coil. The engine cylinder has positioning pieces which are engaged with positioning holes formed on the crankcase to allow easy assembling and a correct positioning of the engine cylinder and the crankcase.

Portable engine

A portable engine has a fan cover fixed to a front surface of a crankcase to cover a fan and to guide upward a blown stream of air generated by the fan, and a cylinder cover disposed behind and in series with the fan cover to cover an engine cylinder and to guide the blown stream toward the engine cylinder.
