Provided are a glass substrate for information recording media wherein air bubbles can be sufficiently removed, and an information recording medium using the glass substrate. The glass substrate contains 65 to 90 mass % of SiO+Al2O+BO(where SiOis 45 to 75 mass %, AlOis 1 to 20 mass %, and BOis 0 to 8 mass %), 7 to 20 mass % of R2O (where R represents Li, Na, or K), 0.1 to 12 mass % of R'O (where R&#x2032; represents Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, or Zn), and 0.5 to 10 mass % of TiO+ZrO. Moreover, the glass substrate contains at least one multivalent element selected from among a group consisting of V, Mn, Ni, Mo, Sn, Ce, and Bi; the molar ratio of the total amount of the oxide of the multivalent element to the total amount of TiO+ZrOis within the range of 0.05 to 0.50.

The present invention relates to the glass substrate for an information recording medium comprising the following glass components: SiO: 52 to 67; AlO: 8 to 20; BO: 0 to 6, with these three oxides FMO: 70 to 85; LiO: 0.5 to 4; NaO: 1 to 8; KO: 0 to 5; and with these three oxides R2O: 5 to 15; MgO: 2 to 9; CaO: 0.1 to 5; BaO: 0 to 3; SrO: 0 to 3; ZnO: 0 to 5; and with these five oxides: 5 to 15; YO: 0 to 4; LaO: 0 to 4; GdO: 0 to 4; CeO: 0 to 4; TiO: 1 to 7; HfO: 0 to 2; ZrO: 0 to 5; NbO: 0.2 to 5; and TaO: 0 to 5, and satisfies LiO/R2O: 0.05 to 0.35; LiO/FMO: 0.005 to 0.035; LiO/(MgO+ZnO): less than 2 and NbO/SiO: 0.01 to 0.075.

A roll paper cutting device is attachable to the main body of an image forming apparatus main body. The roll paper cutting device includes a cutter for cutting the paper of a roll of paper contained therein, as well as an arrangement for feeding the cut sheet to the image forming apparatus. The roll paper cutting device has at least one transport roller for transporting the roll paper, as well as a drive system for driving the transport roller, and a drive change device such as a clutch for selectively bringing the transport roller into idle rotation or into a driven state. A detector detects the travel of the roll paper. A control device such as a CPU controls the rotation of the transport rollers with predetermined timing based on the time when the travel of the roll paper is detected with all the transport rollers in idle rotation in a standby state for paper feeding.

A supporting shaft of a paper roll supports the paper roll and is supported by first to third supporting elements contacting internally an inner circumferential surface of a core cylinder of the paper roll at three circumferentially spaced points, as seen in a longitudinal direction of the core cylinder. A first supporting member provided with the first supporting element and a second supporting member provided with the second supporting element are fixed in opposition to each other by means of a short and small size core shafts or spindles provided at opposite longitudinal ends of the two supporting members. An image forming apparatus has an image forming apparatus main body with a sheet inlet. The main body is arranged to form an image on a sheet inserted into the sheet inlet. A roll paper cutting device contains roll paper and includes a cutting arrangement for cutting the roll paper and discharging cut sheets. The cutting device is attachable to the main body of the apparatus, and is selectively positionable to a feed position where its outlet is in register with the sheet inlet, or a standby position wherein the outlet thereof is out of register with the sheet inlet. When feeding the rolled paper to the image forming apparatus main body, the movable body is held at the upper position. In a cleaning unit for a copying apparatus wherein a part of the photoreceptive drum and adjacent cleaning unit can be exposed by moving a movable part of the copying apparatus in a direction of movement at a right angle to the axis of the photoreceptive drum. This movement allows a main charger installed in the cleaning unit to be integrally loaded into and unloaded from the copying apparatus together with the cleaning unit. The cleaning unit can be opened in the state of being secured to the copying apparatus by rotating it in a direction away from the photoreceptive drum, and the main charger secured to the cleaning unit can also be opened by rotating it in the direction identical to that of the cleaning unit.

A sheet feeding mechanism includes a receiving member, a feed member for feeding sheets from a stack thereof on the receiving member, and an overlapping feed preventing device including a roller to be rotated in a predetermined direction and a friction member cooperating with the roller. In relation to the friction member, a device is provided for substantially preventing the leading end of a fed sheet from contacting that part of the friction member which is upstream, in the sheet feeding direction, of the nipping site between the friction member and the roller.

An electrostatic copying apparatus conveys a copying paper sheet through a copying paper conveying passage thereby to form an image on one surface of the sheet, selectively introduces it into a copying paper returning passage, returns it to a copying paper re-sending device through the returning passage, and again feeds it into the paper conveying passage from the re-sending device so as to form an image on the other surface of the paper sheet. The paper re-sending device includes a copying paper receiving stand for receiving copying paper sheets and a delivery device disposed above the receiving stand. The delivery device is selectively maintained in a non-operating state in which it moves away from the copying paper received on the receiving stand, a first operating state in which it acts relatively weakly on the copying paper received on the receiving stand, and a second operating state at which it acts relatively strongly on the copying paper received on the receiving stand. A mechanism prevents feeding of papers in the superposed state, and a copying paper detecting mechanism, applicable to various types of electrostatic copying apparatus, permits effective detection of the arrival of a copying paper at the paper re-sending device.

A copying paper feed device for an electrostatic copier. A copying paper cassette receiving section is adapted to receive a copying paper cassette having a box-like case with a bottom plate the front end of which is biased upwardly by a spring. Within the cassette receiving section, a feed roller is mounted on a rotatable shaft that is adapted to be connected to a drive source. When the copying paper cassette is properly loaded into the cassette receiving section, the front end of the uppermost sheet of copying paper contacts the feed roller. A clutch in its operating condition links the feed roller with the drive source and in its non-operating condition permits the feed roller to freely rotate.

Copying paper feed device for an electrostatic copying apparatus

A fixing device for fixing a toner image on the surface of a sheet material within an electrostatic copying machine. A movable supporting member rotatably mounts a follower fixing roller for free movement between a press-contacting position, at which the follower fixing roller is maintained in press-contact with a rotatably mounted driven fixer roller, and an isolated position at which at least the greater portion of the follower fixing roller in its longitudinal direction is isolated from, or maintained out of press contact with, the driven fixer roller. A control mechanism moves the supporting members to the press-contacting position in response to energization of a dirve source to which the driven fixer roller is connected and to the isolated position upon deenergization of the drive source.
