A monitoring apparatus is provided which can ensure the prevention of a paper break even in a poor installation environment. A light source () illuminates light () on a lateral edge () of wet paper () and a camera () captures light () reflected therefrom. The camera () is a micro camera and completely covered by a camera box (). The camera box () has an observation window () which is made of a transparent member, at the lens side () of the camera (). The outer surface of the observation window () is coated and an air curtain () that flows from above to below prevents staining caused by mist. The air curtain () is formed in such a manner that air that is continuously supplied inside a cover () flows along the outer surface of the observation window () from an opening portion (). A color image obtained by the camera () is subjected to image processing in an image processing device () and the resulting image is projected on a monitor TV (), so that variations of the release point () can be monitored. This allows for forecasting of a machine abnormality leading to a paper break.

Monitoring device

A press felt for use in a papermaking machine comprises a base body, a batt material and a hydrophilic nonwoven fabric, all intertwiningly integrated by needle punching. The batt material comprises a staple fiber, and is composed of a wet paper web side layer and a press side layer. The hydrophilic nonwoven fabric is provided in the wet paper web side layer. The hydrophilic character of the nonwoven fabric improves the movement of water to the nonwoven fabric, and the holding the water in the nonwoven fabric. As a result rewetting is prevented more effectively than in the case of prior press felts.

Papermaking press felt and press apparatus for a papermaking machine

A paper former comprises two wires which converge for defining a paper production gap and a plurality of dewatering blades arranged in the paper production gap in a paper producing direction and brought into sliding contact with one of the two wires so that a stock is dehydrated while being conveyed in a state put in the paper production gap. Each of the plurality of dewatering blades is shaped into a convexly curved surface configuration bent along a traveling direction of the wires and equipped with a wire sliding contact surface brought into sliding contact with said wire for guiding the traveling of said wire, and grooves are made in said wire sliding contact surfaces as a moisture run-off opening for running off moisture developing through the dewatering from the wire side. This paper former thus constructed can suppress the occurrence of paper defects stemming from the landing of a material jet or paper defects stemming from the dewatering property, thus improving the paper quality.

With the configurations of the dewatering inhibiting blades, the dewatering pressure peak value increases in accordance with advancing toward the downstream.

In order to render a twin wire former for a paper machine more applicable to an appropriate dewatering pressure state with respect to widely used paper formation conditions, there is provided a dewatering device including a plurality of dewatering blades that face a gap for paper formation through the wires constituting closed loops. The dewatering blades comprise a pressure adjustment unit for operating the dewatering blades in a direction close to or away from a wire and an angle adjustment unit for swinging the dewatering blades in a wire running direction, which are operationally associated with each other. The angle formed between an active plane of the dewatering blades and the wires is externally adjustable by the angle adjustment unit.

A web transfer system is disclosed which comprises an endless belt which has a first surface which is elastic and which is structured and arranged to come into direct contact with a web in a press section and a second surface which is not in contact with the web. The endless belt has an inner core, which is located between the first surface and the second surface. The inner core is made from a material which is less elastic than the first surface. The web transfer system also comprises a hard roll and at least one pressure roll which presses the endless belt into direct contact against the hard roll. When the endless belt is pressed against the hard roll, it is deformed so as to doff the web from the hard roll directly and convey the web with the endless belt. No suction force is imposed on the endless belt.

A dewatering instrument of a twin-wire former allows the angles at which the wires are wrapped around the dewatering blades to be adjusted even during operation so that pulsating pressure applied to the paper stock may be set appropriately according to the prevailing paper making condition. The respective dewatering blades of the dewatering instrument are supported by two support bodies, the first one of which is fixed and pivotably supports the blade, and the second one of which is movable to pivot the blade about the first. For example, the second support body may be a flexible tube which is inflatable and deflatable. When the blade is pivoted, the attitude of the land of the blade is changed so that the wrap angles of the wires with respect to the land of the dewatering blade are adjusted.

A twin wire sheet-forming apparatus for a paper machine having at least two fixed hydroextractors which have separate places for drainage to the hydroextractor side from places for dispersion of fibers. These hydroextractors are arranged alternately in the two wire loops, and have shoe blades, with a wedge shaped trough in a mid-portion of each shoe blade.
