The present invention has its object to provide a pressure sensitive adhesive composition which can be applied using no organic solvent and which manifests excellent pressure sensitive adhesion characteristics. This object can be achieved by a pressure sensitive adhesive composition which comprises, as essential constituents, the following: (A) a hydrolyzable silyl group-containing organic polymer containing at least 1.3 hydrolyzable silyl groups per molecule and having a number average molecular weight of 15,000 to 100,000; (B) a hydrolyzable silyl group-containing organic polymer containing 0.3 to 1.3 hydrolyzable silyl groups per molecule and having a number average molecular weight of 500 to 15,000; and (C) a tackifier resin.

The present invention has its object to provide, by using a non-organotin curing catalyst, a curable composition having a practical level of curability. Furthermore, the present invention has its object to provide a curable composition excellent in adhesiveness while it secures a practical level of curability. The present invention relates to a curable composition which comprises: (A) an organic polymer containing a silicon-containing group capable of crosslinking by siloxane bond formation and (B) a silanol condensation catalyst: and that the silanol condensation catalyst is an amine compound and that an aqueous solution prepared by adding 5 millimoles of the amine compound to 100 g of a mixed solvent composed of isopropyl alcohol and water in a weight ratio of 10:3 has a pH value of not lower than 13.4 as measured at 23&#xb0; C. according to JIS Z 8802.

A problem of the present invention is to provide a curable composition which gives good curability by use of a catalyst other than organic tin catalysts. The above problem is solved by a curable composition, comprising: (A) one or more polymers having a silicon-containing group which is crosslinkable by forming siloxane bonds, (B) an amine compound, and (C) a silicon compound having, as substituents on its silicon, at least one electron withdrawing group, and at least one group selected from the group consisting of alkoxy groups, alkenyloxy groups, acyloxy groups, and a hydroxyl group.

The problem is to efficiently produce an active hydrogen group-containing oxyalkylene polymer as a starting material of a hydrolyzable silicon group-containing oxyalkylene polymer which has a low viscosity while maintaining a plasticity of a cured product and which does not contaminate an area around a sealing portion and/or has no adverse effect on an adhesion. The problem is dissolved by a process for producing an oxyalkylene polymer in which a first oxyalkylene polymer having at least two active hydrogen groups and a second oxyalkylene polymer having one active hydrogen group coexist, which process comprises reacting an alkylene oxide using a first initiator having at least two active hydrogen groups and a second initiator having one active hydrogen group in the presence of a catalyst.

The present invention provides a composition, which is easy to produce because of high ease of handling the starting materials. The composition exhibits excellent transparency, and a product prepared using the composition exhibits excellent mechanical properties and adhesive properties. The present invention provides a novel sealant and a novel curable resin composition providing for sufficiently high mechanical strength, adhesive strength, rubber elasticity and good workability and a direct glazing method utilizing the composition, which comprises (I) a reactive silicon group-containing polyether oligomer such that the reactive silicon group exists exclusively at the molecular chain terminus and the introduction rate of the reactive silicon group into the molecular chain terminus is not less than 85% as determined by H-NMR analysis and (II) a reinforcing filler.

The present invention is to provide a curable resin composition comprising (I) a reactive silicon group-containing polyoxyalkylene polymer wherein a introduction rate of a reactive silicon group into molecular chain terminus is not less than 85% as analyzed by H-NMR spectrometry and (II) an epoxy resin. The curable resin obtained from this composition reflects improvements in tensile strength and tensile shear bond strength and in adhesion to various substrates.
