The polyethylene film of the present invention is excellent in tear resistance, impact resistance and transparency. The film of the invention is a polyethylene film suitable for packaging formed from a resin composition comprising a low-density polyethylene (A) having specific ranges of the density, melt flow rate and molecular weight distribution(Mw/Mn), and having (i) a thickness of 10 to 30 &mgr;m, (ii) Elmendorf tear strength of at least 20 kg/cm in the longitudinal direction, (iii) dart impact strength of at least 50 g, and (iv) HAZE value of not greater than 8%.

Polyethylene film for packaging

Disclosed is a liner film for bulk container, which comprises a polyethylene (A) prepared by the use of a single site olefin polymerization catalyst such as a metallocene catalyst, said polyethylene (A) having a density of 0.920 to 0.940 g/cm,, MFR of 0.1 to 3.0 g/10 min and a melting point of 115 to 135&deg; C. When the film is heat-sealed, its sealed portion preferably has a tensile strength at break (Ts) of 2.0 to 4.0 kg/15 mm and a tensile elongation at break (EL) of 150 to 600%. The liner film for bulk container has the advantages: the film can be made lightweight by decreasing the film thickness; the film shows such a high heat-sealing strength that the heat-sealed portion is not broken even if no adhesive tape is attached thereto; and a bulk container liner formed from the film can be filled with a content of a higher temperature than the conventional temperature. Also disclosed is a bulk container liner shaping the above film into a bag.

A bag for packaging heavy materials, exhibiting excellent strength, content packaging performance, stacking performance on the pallets, and anti-collapsing performance. The bag is made of a multi-layer laminated film which comprises an outermost layer of a polyethylene film containing an inorganic filler in an amount of from 20 to 80% by weight and an innermost layer of a polyethylene film containing an inorganic filler in an amount of from 10 to 40% by weight, the outermost layer having on the surface thereof a coefficient of static friction of not smaller than 0.5 (ASTM D 1894), a coefficient of dynamic friction of not larger than 0.5 (ASTM D 1894) and a gloss of not larger than 50% (JIS Z 8741, at a measuring angle of 60.degree.), and the content of the inorganic filler in the innermost layer being from 1/2 to 1/6 of the content of the inorganic filler in the outermost layer.

Ethylene/C.sub.4 -C.sub.20 alpha-olefin copolymers are disclosed which have new characteristics in regard to composition distribution, degree of branching, randomness and crystallinity by DSC melting points. These copolymers have excellent transparency, impact strength, tear strength, blocking resistance, environmental stress cracking resistance, heat resistance and low-temperature heat sealability in a well-balanced combination when they have a density of at least 0.90. When their density is less than 0.90, these copolymers have particularly excellent transparency, impact strength and low-temperature heat sealability, and by incorporating them in various thermoplastic resins, they serve as an excellent modifier for improved impact strength and low-temperature heat sealability.

An ethylene-alpha-olefin-polyene random copolymer rubber comprising ethylene, an alpha-olefin having 3 to 10 carbon atoms and a polyene, wherein (A) a molar ratio of ethylene/alpha-olefin is 55/45 to 95/5, (B) the polyene is a mixture of 5-ethylidene-2-norbornene (ENB) and 5-vinyl-2-norbornene (VNB) in a molar ratio of ENB/VNB of 1/1 to 20/1, (C) an iodine value of the copolymer rubber is 2 to 40, (D) an intrinsic viscosity [.eta.] of the copolymer rubber is 1.0 to 6.0 dl/g measured in decalin at 135.degree. C., and (E) g.sub..eta. * defined by a ratio of the intrinsic viscosity [.eta.] to an intrinsic viscosity [.eta.]l of a linear ethylene-propylene random copolymer having an ethylene content of 70 mole % and the same weight-average molecular weight determined by a light-scattering method as that of the copolymer rubber is 0.2 to 0.9. Also a process for preparing this random copolymer rubber and vulcanizate derived from the same are also disclosed. This random copolymer rubber has an excellent extrudability and a fast cure rate and provides a vulcanizate having high tensile strength.
