An air conditioning system includes a primary or engine-driven compressor that is driven by a primary driving source or engine, and a secondary or motor-driven compressor that is driven by a secondary driving source or motor. The air conditioning system increases in advance an output of the secondary or motor-driven compressor before the primary or engine-driven compressor is stopped. Further, when a load of the secondary or motor-driven compressor becomes a predetermined value while the secondary or motor-driven compressor is in operation, the primary or engine-driven compressor is activated.

An air conditioning systemincludes a primary compressor (an engine-driven compressor) driven by a primary driving source (an engine) and a secondary compressor (a motor-driven compressor) driven by a secondary driving source (a motor). A control apparatus for automatically stopping and restarting an engine of a vehicle is provided, which is equipped with an engine, a motor, a compressor and an air conditioner. The apparatus has a first section for making a judgment on stopping the engine and a second section for making a judgment on restarting the engine. The apparatus has features that the apparatus provides the air conditioner with a plurality of operational modes selected by a user, and when the vehicle is not in motion with selection of a first mode, the first section permits the engine to stop if a first power that the motor can supply is greater than a second power of the compressor required by the air conditioner, and the second section permits the engine to restart if the second power exceeds the first power.

Control apparatus for automatically stopping and restarting an engine

An air conditioning system for a vehicle includes a compressor driven by a first drive source or a second drive source, or a combination thereof, and an evaporator operationally connected to the compressor via a refrigerant circuit. The system also includes a blower for dispensing air into an interior of the vehicle via the evaporator. The blower is driven by the first drive source or the second drive source, or a combination thereof. Moreover, the system includes a controller for controlling the first drive source and the second drive source. Specifically, when a temperature of air dispensed from the evaporator is greater than a predetermined temperature and a speed of the vehicle is greater than a predetermined speed, the first drive source drives the compressor and the blower. Moreover, when the temperature of air dispensed from the evaporator is greater than the predetermined temperature, the speed of the vehicle is less than the predetermined speed, and a voltage of a power source of the second drive source is less than or equal to a predetermined voltage, the compressor is inactive and the second drive source drives the blower.

A controlled system for the clutch in a torque converter of an automatic transmission wherein the clutch is normally engaged in a predetermined range of vehicle and engine operating conditions for efficient operation. An atmospheric pressure sensor is used in the control system to disengage the clutch in that predetermined range at higher altitudes to allow the torque converter to function to increase the torque being transmitted thereby compensating for the reduced engine performance at higher altitudes.
