A method is for manufacturing a stator of a rotary electric machine. The method includes; forming a stator core; forming each of cassette coils by concentrically winding rectangular wire for the specified number of turns, each of the cassette coils being formed by applying a shift amount with respect to an axis in a winding direction to a wire shape of at least one of the turns before being attached to the teeth; attaching each of the cassette coils to each of teeth while canceling the shift amount; and forming a wire coil of the rotary electric machine by connecting a winding terminal of one of the cassette coils to a winding terminal of another of the cassette coils.

A cuff support attached to an axial end surface of a stator core including an annular yoke, a plurality of teeth, and a plurality of slots formed between the teeth includes: an annular plate making contact with the yoke; a plurality of ribs projecting toward an inner peripheral side of the annular plate so as to correspond to the teeth; and a plurality of spaces formed between the ribs so as to correspond to the slots. The cuff support is made of an elastic member. The ribs are being apart from the axial end surface of the stator core from roots of the ribs toward tip ends of the ribs. When a coil is wound around the teeth and the ribs so as to pass through the slots and the spaces, the ribs are brought into pressure contact with the coil due to an elastic force.

A stator of a three-phase driving type rotary electric machine has phase coils wound around teeth of a stator core. In a specific slot among a plurality of slots of the stator core in which one phase coil directly connected to a power terminal and another phase coil directly connected to a neutral point are adjacently disposed, an inter-phase distance ensuring member is disposed in a gap via which the two phase coils are adjacent, and a temperature sensor is inserted into an insertion hole provided in the inter-phase distance ensuring member.

An electric motor has a rotor, stator, and covers. A stator coil is a pre-wound coil inserted into slots of a stator core from its inner side. A no-lead-wire side coil end portion of the stator coil protrudes radially inward. A no-lead-wire side coolant chamber is liquid-tightly defined by the cover covering the no-lead-wire side coil end portion and a seal plate(s) that is attached from or on a radially inner side of the stator core so as to cover an opening between the inner peripheral edge of the cover and the inner peripheral edge of the stator core.
